My bearded dragon wasn’t pooping so I took her to the vet and with the little description that I said of her, not eating the recommended enema I haven’t done any prior research to enemas, so I agreed thinking that I could trust the vet once we got in the car she pooped and she was acting normal. I woke up around 5 AM this morning to her freaking out all black bearded, not acting normal at all. She started violently throwing up and acting super strange now she’s just laying here looking all sick and miserable and keeps throwing up randomly still all black bearded in the end her tail looks black like it’s starting a tail rot. I don’t know what to do. I don’t wanna go back to the same vet but I don’t understand how they could be so uneducated and irresponsible with my pet. I read now that this procedure is deadly and if I knew that before, I would’ve not agreed whatsoever, but they gave me no prior knowledge about the side effects. It could possibly have or that it’s deadly to bearded dragons. They said nothing at all.

Its possible they have injured her inside ---- please go to this website and find another vet
www.arav.org ---- if your in a small town/ area type in a bigger cities zip code --- call them tell them what happened at the last vet --- we always recommend NO enemas --- - I would have them do X Rays to see what is going on inside or a CT scan - is she walking around and using her back legs? I would make sure her surface basking temps are up to par 95-100 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer her UVB is a long tube fixture ? NO coils -- these are extremely important -- how long had it been before her last poop --- and the last time she ate ?

she ate yesterday before the vet and pooped yesterday as well after the enema. I wasn’t aware that enemas were bad or there’s no way i would’ve done it, she’s in her tank down under her basking lamp. her uvb is a long tube fixture and the temps are correct. we will do a x-ray soon but the other hospital nearby jusr lost their only reptile specialist ad i don’t trust to go back to the one we were at yesterday

also she isn’t walking around but when she does it seems like she’s walking normally. She’s just super lethargic right now.

Ok good bulb where do you have it placed at? Top of screen or inside the tank? Your screen is going to make a difference in where it needs to be -- I am going to flag your post to Tracie the vet tech she can help you better than I w/ her condition -- but shes on late at night -- I will post to a couple of others on here that maybe able to help you -- in the mean time keep her warm and comfortable - I would offer her some water either by dropping on her nose or eye dropper - if you use the eye dropper go slow let her swallow what you put in -- please try and find another vet ---

we called the vet back that we went to just to let them know she was having problems. And on top of them being very rude, they basically said the enema had nothing to do with what was wrong with her. However she has NEVER thrown up nor showed signs of any type of regurgitation. She’s never been lethargic like this or anything. So to say it has nothing to do with it is pretty ridiculous to me. I understand her pooping is an underlying condition as well and could have definitely contributed to the problems but the enema definitely had something to do with it, right?

My guess is yes ---- dragons will poop on their own if correct surface basking temps and UVB are on par- older dragons can go long periods of time w/ out pooping and if you want them to poop then you can feed a food like baby food pumpkin or unsweet applesauce or baby food prunes etc ---- something that will make them poop on their own - enemas are should ONLY be done if absolutely necessary-- like impaction is so bad that is the only way to get it out but normally feeding something that I mentioned above will do the trick along w/ keeping them hydrated -- water is crucial as well -- its good shes walking sometimes the vet can paralyze the dragon -- she is in distress or pain w/ the black beard going on ---

she just keeps opening her mouth and sounds like a huff or something coming from her. she’s leaning on the class of her tank and just keeps doing it. She was a little more relaxed laying on my bed but i have no way of keeping the uvb and heat lamp on her if she’s on there. she keeps like inching forward and her mouth is open and won’t lay down

I can’t wait to see Dr.Wilson be a big dragon but I try to cherish hard the moments while he still fits in my hand 🦎

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
