Hello,
I have some brumation questions( wasn't sure where to post them). I have several adults( all 2 years plus) and they are all kind of doing different things at the moment. I started making little "hiding caves" in November for them to brumate in. Two of my girls went in a few weeks ago and have stayed in there w/o coming back out. I have a male who still basks but will not eat( he does drink in the bath though), however he only basks for a few hours before retreating to his hiding spot. I have two girls who seem to want to bask, but will also only do it for a couple hours before going to the cooler part of the tank and staying there. Then I have a male who doesn't seem interested in it at all who basks/eats ( a little more sluggish than usual though).
My question is... should I encourage them to bask or sleep? I feel like they are in between, but leaning towards sleeping. I feel like they get irritated with the lights on and I am misinterpreting what they want. I have read a lot about it and it seems so many people do different things. I heard some people but them in shoe boxes until spring. And others just slightly reduce the amount of light all winter long w/o completely shutting them off. I am also unsure of the food situation. Should I keep feeding them if they want to sleep? They all would probably eat wax worms if offered, but some are refusing crickets/greens or eating a couple bites...( then I get worried about it rotting inside them)
I am giving them all baths once a week besides the two that are hiding. I'm trying not to disturb them much besides to check on them.
I would like to get them all on the same page, if possible. Thanks in advanced for any help/advice!
