so my male who has been sick on and off with an RI most of his life sadly is yet again wheezing. none of our others are doing this. i brought him to the vet who specializes in avian and reptiles and he got a good look over. he saw no signs of an RI other then the breathing. he did an xray of his lungs and saw no fluid in them. he is just always wheezing. he seems to breath very shallow a number of times and then take a good deep breath and is a whistly type sound from his nostrils. the vet did a saliva swab under the microscope and checked his blood. he saw no signs of an infection in either test. we did a stool sample since he went on me while there  which also came back negative for any parasites at all.
his temps are on point and the humidity in his tank and our house is always under 50% and usually under 40% in his house. i use a couple silent computer fans inside the vents to bring it down. the vet said we can once again treat him for an RI since he sees nothing else wrong because of the wheezing. so my question is has anyone had a beardie who just maybe had trouble breathing? like some dogs or even people do but didnt end up having an RI? i know when this guys sheds the plugs i get out of his nose are super crazy long they go way further in then any of the others we have. could he just be okay and this is how he breaths?
the vet mentioned another course of baytril but i really hate to do that especially if all other tests we did came back fine. he has had so many courses of baytril now i worry about his liver and kidneys. we always do extra fluid and probiotics when on baytril but still. if this is an RI then the baytril just is not working to get rid of it at all. but the vet said that is what they use for an RI. is there another antibiotic i can use instead? just dont know how much more baytril he can take. he mentioned fortaz but said he would have to have an injection daily and the problem is the vet is almost 1.5 hours away from us each direction, i just cant with work drive him there every day for a shot. and the cost to leave him there would be far more then my mortgage since they charge for each day he would be there plus shot, visit, etc each day. there is NO other vet near us who deals with them even including the emergency hospitals.
like we had a dog who had a slightly squished type face and she always sounded wheezy when she breathed. just curious if anyone has any ideas. he is finally growing and eating which he is VERY stunted due to being sick a few times before (as i have posted about him here in the past), and he has energy he is not lethargic or anything like that he is eating etc..
