Some bonding/trusting tips

My new beardie which I got 2 days ago is still settling in, and I have had my shirt in there since his first night here. Any other tips for him to trust me an bond with me. Today when I replaced the old short with a shirt I wore all day, he licked my finger then my shirt

More tips on trust and bondage would be awesome!

I just got my 2nd beardie after Omni passed on 12/3 and at first I would just mess around in his enclosure w/ the furniture or simply having my hands visible to him, even talking to them whenever you're near the viv.. I started out slowly w/ a little handling before/after feeding and then taking out once he wasn't so skittish and had acclimated a bit. It's only been 27 days and I have him out and about within reason since he's so small and I don't want to be fishing under a bed or furniture when he goes under and decides to stay there for a while.. you'll figure it out doing your own thing, just start small and go from there..Happy New Year!!

-Myah was already a yr when I adopted her and it took ALOT of time and patience to get her to be my snuggle bug
-Her viv is beside my bed. Everyday I would offer a tastey treat from my hand or tweezers hidden in my hand. I started to pet her in the viv, then started to take her out and place her on my lap. She could still see her viv and that seemed to make her more at ease. I'd take her out for 5mins at a time, once a day, then twice. Soon I had her out for a good 20mins.Still only inches from her viv.I ALWAYS spoke to her in a soft and calm voice. It took atleast 6mths before she made it to the living room.
-Now Myah is queen of the house! LOL! :lol: She stalks my 60lb dog, jumps on to my coffee/side tables and always walks right up to my daughter, as if to say "you look like mom" "I like mom, so I like you" It took teeny-tiny-baby steps to get her where she is today but the effort was more then worth it. She even has her own "people type" heating pad on the back of the sofa as there are days you couldn't pay her to go back in the viv! LOL!
-Take it slow, you'll do fine :wink:

I love the personality that beardie's develop. I can't wait for that moment when he knows, "you are my daddy" and follows me/spends time with me. Right now he is at the point where when I take him out, he walks over to anything he sees. He is very curious as I would imagine every young beardie is, and he is just so cute. I will try to make him feel calm and secure as he grows. I can't wait! it will be so worth it!

It'll be nice to have another BD daddy around. Mostly mommy's here. They know. Infact, Myah does NOT like daddy! :shock: Likely, because he does nothing with her or for her. I laugh at the "death glares" he gets from her. They know who butters their bread! LOL! :lol:

Lol. Well I will b happy once he understands that I take care of him and he is happy. I just got to be pAtient.
