So much conflicting advice

Does anybody else feel like some advice on this site and many others is so conflicting?
I genuinely don't know if I'm doing a good enough job with Maggie.
Should I go with my own beliefs and research? Should I only listen to my vet, even if it doesn't feel right? Should I listen to you guys over my vet? I don't even know at this point. I'm stressing out so hard. She's a rescue, so she needs and deserves the best possible care. Advice? Please? :?: :?

Hello,

There is definitely a lot of different opinions out there. This forum pretty much stays on an
even keel for the most part. We do our best to ensure the information is accurate & most on
here do a good amount of research as well.
There are a lot of very experienced keepers on this forum too. I have to say many times I
would listen more to the experienced keepers than a lot of vets because the majority of vets
don't specialize or have much or any experience with reptiles.

Your best approach is to note the advise given …. and ask here about it …. unfortunately there are some vets and vendors who give very bad advise .

We'll do our best to point you in the right direction.

That is both the good and the bad side of a discussion forum. You can get many different opinions on a matter based on a variety of experiences. Having access to this combined experience can get you a lot of information. The downside is that it can be a bit confusing and not all opinions will apply properly to your situation. It's best to get as much info as you can, consider the sources of the info, and do what you think is best in your situation.

If in the course of caring for your dragon you find that some things work and some don't, please share that with us so we can enhance our pool of knowledge and get better for our dragons over time.

In my honest opinion, These 3^^^, CooperDragon, Drache613 & kingofnobbys(and some others) have been the greatest source of knowledge and advice I have received! I have been on here since I brought home my baby girl and she's now 2 years old and I have followed their instructions and advice from day 1 and throughout. I have a healthy and happy Kozmo! I totally trust them and come here first with any issues, because our rep vet isn't terribly experienced in the day to day care of bearded dragons. In an absolute emergency a vet is the way to go.

Thank you all for your advice and help! Kozmo and I plan to hang around here often and look forward to learning more!

One of the best things on here is that you can get a sense of normal vs stressed beardie behavior. Everything else is to the best of our knowledge & experience. But all beardies are different. I had one who seemed color blind and another who would dart wildly across a room if she saw anything orange. And they definitely preferred different temps based on where they'd hang out in their respective cages. Getting to know your beardie and its preferences is probably most important. This forum is great for getting to know other beardie lovers, basic set up and 'what the hell is going on with my beardie' stuff
