So glad we decided to try Dubias

We got our Dubia roach shipment today from Dubideli.com. Let them eat and stuff for a few hours and then decided to see if Spock would like them. I put 2 of them in a small plastic dish and just held them near him on his basking rock. He snatched them right up. My daughter picked up a pepper the roaches were snacking on which then landed 27 more in the tank, and he ate all but 3 in the 15 minute span.

We were so happy to see our guy eat so heartily. He seemed happy to be chasing his food around. He had been eating phoenix worms, but seemed to be losing interest. Looks like we'll be ordering more soon.

Today was another good day with the Dubias. As soon as Spock saw me bring the little black bucket I keep them in into the bedroom, he perked up and was ready to chase down his breakfast. He munched 13 for breakfast, and now just had another 12 for dinner. We did dust a few of them, but he didn't seem to care for them. I think a little to much calcium powder got on them as they were kind of caked instead of dusted. Next time we'll try to be a little less generous with the calcium powder.

Dubi Deli is great! Met the owner at the Sacramento Reptile show and seemed like a good guy. His prices are very fair and my order was very well packaged when it arrived in the mail.

I had quite a few reservations about having roaches in my home, but once I educated myself about this type of roach I really couldn't see any downsides. Keeping reptiles for over a decade and messing with crickets all the time, I can say the Dubia are so much easier to deal with. Less smelly, easy to catch, easy to care for. I am amazed at how clean they actually are.

Funny thing. I have opposite problem. My guy WANTS the calcium powder on his. I didn't dust them and he didn't want them ,but once I put a few dusted ones in there he ate them all up. Maybe you can try to just dust a few of them at first and then work up to doing more perhaps as he gets used to it?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
