So I noticed this dot on my beardies mouth today. It wasn't there yesterday, and I literally just got him a few days ago (I'm a new owner) and I'm rather worried. I can't afford to get him to the vet just yet, so I was wondering if anyone knew what this was or looks like and could let me know if it warrants a vet visit urgently. His behavior seems fine I guess, he's eating and sleeping, but he does have diarrhea. That could be from the stress of having a new home though, right?

EDIT: It isn't too clear in the images, but if you look close it seems like it was burned or infected or dried blood. I don't know how to describe it other than damaged.

Thank you!!

The diarrhea definitely could just be relocation stress, which is completely normal. However, if it continues after a week or so, you may want to take a sample of poo into a reptile vet to be tested for parasites. It's a good idea in general to have the little one given the once-over by a reptile vet anyway.

As for the black dot, could you try to gently wipe at it with a wet tissue? If nothing comes off, you could ask a vet about it too if/when you take him in for a checkup. It very well could be an old injury from a tank mate from wherever you got him.

I'm going to try and wipe it off, but him going in water hasn't done anything to it so I doubt it will work. Can't really hold him still to get a better check since he is young and untrained and doesn't like to be held. A little better picture, I checked my older ones and 100% this was not here 2 days ago.

I have also noticed a small bit of orange around his ears on both sides... probably just his coloring but I haven't noticed it until now. I'm just constantly worrying because I'm new and only want the best for him!

Oh I'm sorry, I never sent my reply! I'm not sure, he's grey since his last shed. It might just be normal coloring, but it's a thin line from his eye to his ear.

Do you feed him crickets? I'm wondering about a cricket bite or maybe from another feeder.

Is he housed alone?

The dot seems to be going away now. He is house alone, but it was 100% blood from a cut. Either he was bitten by a cricket or he cut himself somehow?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
