I had the opposite sort of problem with Ruben.
He would wake up normal time but try to put himself to bed by about 5.30pm when he'd only just been fed.
So every time he would slink off to his hide I would have to get him out and put him back on his warm side.
We would continue this battle until I finally let him go to bed at around 8pm.
Basically he was just pushing his luck.
"I want to go to bed now and Im gonna mommy!"
After about 3 weeks of this dance Rube finally decided it wasnt worth it. Now he basks until about half an hour before lights off on his own then puts himself to bed.
Its all about routine really.
If he's not coming out of his hide or basking I would turn the lights on. Leave him to get used to the light for an hour (you can just buy a timer to turn on early if you have time constraints) and then I would take him out and put him on the warm side.
After a few days or weeks he will adjust his routine.
This is just what i would do in the situation anyway
