Hello,

I have a year old beard dragon and since April she does not want to come out of her log every time i take her out to play with her and then when i put her back in her cage when i am done she goes under her log and buries herself underneath the log. The cage that I have for her is a 50 gallon she has a heat lamp that is a 50 watt and a UV bulb that i leave on for 12 hours 6 am to 6 pm. the cage stays between 80-90 degrees. I am not sure what is going on with her when she was little she was in a 10 gallon and she was out all the time now she likes to hide. Can someone please tell me if i am doing something wrong or what else i can be doing to get her out from under the log more?

Thanks,
Sadie

She might be brumating. Is 80-90º your ambient temperature or the basking? If it is your basking temp. you should raise it to about 100º

what should i be using i bought her a new basking log and i found her this morning on the other side of the glass with her body up against the glass and last night she was trying to bury herself in the calcium sand ( and i dont feed her in the sand) when i went to go fix it and she let out a hissing noise at me she has never done that before

Thanks,
Sadie

She might be gravid. Some female beardies will lay eggs, even if there is no male. If I were you, I would switch the calcium sand out for tile and create a lay box, because gravid females need more calcium to make eggs, so she might start to eat the sand, and that will lead to impaction.

can you switch to paper towels? you can use a small plastic container, any kind will do, and put your sand in there

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
