Skritching the floor

So, today I moved my beardie into a larger, wooden cage from the 20 gallon glass tank he was in before. The wooden cage has tile in the bottom, and the 20 gallon had reptile carpet. He's been skritching since I put him in there, not just near the doors as if he wants to get out but all over. I put the reptile carpet in over part of the tile so he could be on it if he wanted to, but he's still skritching the tile and the small amount of exposed wood. Is he freaked out by his new flooring? Does he hate it? What's the deal? Any ideas? At least sharp claws won't be an issue anymore

He's still doing it today. Ho hum.
