Skinny Beardie Cont'

I have a previous post on called skinny beardie if you want to catch up. But he hasn't pooped since we brought him home on sunday night. Should I just take that as him being way underfed and he will do it soon, or could something else be wrong. The person I got him from was only feeding him once a week and only a handful of crickets and then some roman lettuce every other day, and yes we are feeding him more then that now.

have you tried giving warm baths and gently massaging from chest to vent?

we gave him a bath yesterday but didn't rub him. We will give that a try today.

is he eating lot more now?

yeah he is chowing down on his food. He actually just pooped like 20 mins ago and it was gross. I don't know how adult bearded dragon poop is supposed to look since we only had a baby that died from parasites, but I am pretty sure it wasn't like this. It had the white part, which was hard and huge, this thing was almost an inch long, then came out like little pellets, but a lot of clean liquid also came out with it, then after that came out this clear liquidy/mucousy stuff that had a slight green tinge to it. I'm talking like enough poop to almost fill the palm of my hand, I don't have big hands but still it was a lot. And now he looks a lot skinnier then he did after we got all the food in him.

I can tell he def feels better now that that is out of him. I am hoping that the next time it is normal looking. If not then I think we might be taking a trip to the vet. It just sucks because his weight was looking so much better and then bam, false weight I'm just gonna poop it out lol.

BTW, how old is your beardie?

We were told he was 4 years. And he pooped again today, but I have no idea what it looked like because he did it on his log and it all went down it. We went ahead and made a vet appt for him next week just to get him checked out to be safe. Another reason is we are goin out of town in 2 weeks and we want to make sure he is doing well before we leave him with our friend.

thats good you made vet appointment, im sure the vet will have a lot of info for you and ideas to get him healthy again. it sounds like you been doing good job at getting him better, its normal for adult BD to not poop everyday so dont worry if he doesnt. keep up the good work. keep us posted on recovery.

So we took him to the vet yesterday. Pretty much we are doing the right things with feeding him every day and giving him daily baths. We did have to go get a CHE to keep his heat higher in the cage. It dropped the past few days because the temp outside dropped drastically and he is right next to the window. And the vet said right now heat is critical and the more the better, well to a certain point lol. The vet said he was really underweight, he was only 13oz, and he was dehydrated. He got some fluids put in him which helped a lot. so we are getting there. we just have to keep a close eye on him to make sure he is eating and gaining weight, and if he stops eating or looses any weight we will have to force feed him because he can't loose any more weight.
