Hey,

I got a question. I know mealworms arent good for bearded dragon as staple and should be served as little as possible. But most people state that problem is their tough shell. What if someone would be to skin them and serve it to bearded dragon ? I am asking because im runing short on roaches and supers since i want to breed them, but i got loads of mealworms and it would be awesome to be able to serve them at least a few times a week without fear of impaction, etc. I could easily make "juice" out of them, add calcium and vitamines and serve them to 1 of my beardos that lost its apetite ( mbd, already went to vet ) and i have to hand feed him. Hmm, now that i read it all this sounds very strange but its just a thought. :(

Skin them..? You would have to cut them in half and squeeze out their inner guts and juices which would not be easy..

Yea i know it wont be easy, but i have done a lot of crasy things for my beardos, including time and money. But the problem is, money is really tight at the moment. And it might seem like i dont have any other choice. The only question is, will it be good for the beardo ?

What i could do is, first offcourse cut of their head to prevent it from suffering ( no matter how small the animal is, its still an animal ). And then just squize it soo the inside comes out. Either that or use the dry food i bought for bearded dragons ( but i am not completely confident that its as good as they say though, its for adult BD, from EXO TERRA ).

I know that this sounds spooky, i have to admit if i saw post like that i would say is this a joke, but its not.

Another issue with meal worms, although not as often pointed out, is they have very little nutritional value. Then to skin them. You might as well run em through a juicer.

Yes i was thinking about that aswell. The thing is my beardo is very skinny right now. Younger ones which are healthy are ok, eating a lot, etc. Beardo with mbd was my first one, and as many others, i wasnt well informed about their needs and didnt take proper care of him ( and its totaly my fault but now its on me to do my best to make my beardo better if possible, or hand feed him for all his life if necesary ).

Right now i mix that beardos food i bought ( exo terra, adult dragons ), add few drops of water and use injection ( the one without needle, vet gave it to me to put meds into his mouth ) to put it inside his mouth and it works great. I also give him lots of different vegs, some superworms, mealworms once a week. I was also thinking of giving him an earthworm once a week ( cause my vet said they are ok, he said that i should give him something from the nature ) but i am not sure, i saw a topic of someone claiming his beardo died because of an earthworm. I really dont want to risk it, as much as it would be a cheap way since i have lots of earthworms in forest near me. But seriously i dont even want to think bout my beardo dying because of it....

For a few reasons. First because he wont eat on his own, and second, i spent soo much money on vets that i ran out of money for his feeders ( not to mention my food ). I will sort it out soon but for a month or 2 i will feed him like that.

Prices of vets are really crazy in my country. One time i found my beardo with a broken leg in the middle of the night, offcourse i could wait till next morning but i just couldnt see him like that and went to a vet that works at night. All he did was take a picture of him and tie his leg to his tail. 70 euros. In the morning i found that his leg was swolen and i saw a few yellowish drops on it. Soo i took him back to the same vet and all he did was check the leg and retie it with the same material ! 50 euros. 120€, that equals to 600 adult dubias or 1400 adult crickets. Soo yea, thats about it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
