Sizing Question

Hi, I am building a new enclosure for by beardie because his current one is too small (10 gallon for a 7"). I have materials that would make a 4'x18"x2' but I know most people recommend a 2' width. How necessary is this? If I try to rig it and make it 4' x 2' then the height would most likely only be 18".

Which would be better if I had to choose?

I'd go with the 4x2x18'' instead.

Thanks! One other question if you don't mind. Would I be ok to use a 48" UVB or should I try to find a 36"? They're tough to find.

I wouldn't use the 48''. You want the uvb bulb to be about 3/4ths the length of your enclosure.

So a 36" would be best. But would a 30" work if I cannot find a 36"?

Yes a 30 inch would work. Rule of thumb is 1/2-3/4 the length of the cage for UVB tube.

A 30 inch would work..... if reptisun or arcadia made 30 inch bulbs. Which they don't..
