well godzilla is now 3 and 1/2 months old and he is 10 1/2 inches long.. he has been doing great and eating all his vegies but he only eats about 2 dozen medium crix (no bigger than the space between his eyes) a day.. so i was wondering if there was something else that he might prefer more than crix that was about the same price.. and/or something that is good, cheap and easy to breed myself.. not to sure on dubias due to the fact that he is my only beardie and i dont know how long it will be before i have something else that can eat them although they are still a big option if easy and cheap! thanks for any and all the help yall give us! Logan

Dubias are extremely easy to breed, but they do have a higher starting cost at the begining. After a few months you will have a very steady supply of them and won't need to buy anything but treats!

are there any diy or write ups of how to get a dubia colony started or about how much has to be put in and costs to do it?

If the only reason for Lats instead of dubias is the movement that stimulates feeding, I would say still stick with dubias.
I have never had problems with any size or age of my dubias not moving around and causing a "lack of feeding due to no movement".

Simple, easy, and cheap = dubia roaches. After a couple months the colony will be booming and all you need to do is drop in some food and you will have an unlimited source of feeders of all sizes.
Just search there are tons of guides, or people asking and getting answered, on breeding dubias.

Something not so simple and easy but very fun would be to breed hornworms. You should check this out too.

Dubias hands down. They really aren't all that fast of breeders. Most other feeding roaches will swamp you quickly, and if you have too many, either just put some in a bucket and kill them or just go to the for free forum and say you got some extra dubias. haha

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
