silkback bearded dragon advice

I just got myself a new dragon and is a silkback. what makes them different from the dull colored pet store ones you know. let me know just looking for advice and changes before time passes to much more. thx uno

he is 8 months old and about 7 inch long is that ok for a silky.

I don't know about the growth rates, but the only thing I remember being different is that people lotion them. (with what kind I don't know). They also get dehydrated faster, so bathing is important.

thats fine i actually didn't know that about them dehyhrating faster. that is my reason for joining today lol. Yes you use udder butter the stuff for like cows lips. theres others but this last later days other then daily use of the shed ease by zoomed i started with.

I was thinking about getting a silkback before but we decided not to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they need a lower dosage UVB because they are sensitive to it or something? Someone else might know more about this I was just wondering if you read the same thing before or not.

Thanks for the vinyl post. I have heard this also with not having skin like the normal phase dragons. Silkys have skin like geckos and heard the reptisun 5 will do. But with mesh could be questioned. Am not to sure even with the bask temp being 95f. I just been trying to get it right so health down the road is best I can provide. The silky I have has smelly stools like a human fart when near the tank. I hope it's just because of being stressed with being new. I am not really sure but when I offer food my silky opens mouth and runs around at glass.

That's correct. A reptisun 5.0 is enough. Corky Jordon ( breeder) knows a ton about silkies and has a care guide.

Ok reptisun 5 cool I will get one but it's still ok right with mesh under fixture. I heard that causes a problem all dragons. Never heard of corky jordan but if anyone knows where to find the care sheet post it. Again am just trying to get it right for silky up there.

Found a few information out on silks. Bask temp 95 and can use old reptisun 10 over the six month of age of bulb. To bath them to help shedding and to use lotion on areas that skin isn't getting removed on its own. As for feeding mine loves dubia. Does anyone know where to get cheaper ones. I got 50 medium from backwaterreptile.com for 20 bucks. Then a colony does anyone here use this. I enjoy dubia more then crickets but am getting where I can't afford dubias prices are like WOW online for them. She's doing well I made a few differents in her habitat so hopefully next few days gets a little better. Very afraid hisses at me and does a lot of running around on glass lol. Tip of tail is black about quarter inch that's ok right it's been like that since the day I got her. Let me know thanks take care.

Hi, how would you send money without someone knowing your info. I was trying to get alot of dubias because I went though 50 med in just one feeding. Ate the greens still after. He's small for his age tiny actually so am just trying to promote growing.
