On a normal basis i take out my 8 month old (soon to be 9 months old) bearded dragon out to play and watch TV etc. usually that motivates him to eat. and i was wondering should i still do that while he is under his log napping all day?

Hello, can you give us a run down of your whole setup? While possible, your beardie seems unusually young to be brumating.

The temp of his cage is 95F and i have zoo meds reptibasking spotlight for the basking light and the reptisun 10.0 for uv and he has a log to go on top of (and get under for shade) and he has paper towel floor (he used to have sand in his cage before we learned it was bad)and he has 2 plant decos. That help?

Hello,

How you have described about your setup+lights sounds good, though typically the basking spot should be 105-110 for juveniles. :) But I do agree, 8 months old does seem seriously early for a beardie to brumate. Normally beardies start brumation at over a year old. What do you feed your dragon? What type of greens? What insects do you feed him? When was the last time he pooped? When you saw his poop did you notice if the Urate (white part of poop) had any reddish orange or rusty tinge to it? if you did then your dragon is most likely dehydrated or has internal parasites. How often do you feed him? How many gallons is your beardie's tank? How long is your dragon? How much does he weigh? (Grams, ounces, pounds). When was the last time you took him to a reptile vet? Do you have a reptile vet? If you don't, I bet your nearest veterinary clinic would tell you of a good exotic animal (reptile) vet. I fear your beardie is not actually brumating. I believe he is most likely sick and needs a reptile vet appointment. ASAP.

Can you post some pics of your beardie and his setup?
In my opinion, there is a slim chance that your dragon might still be brumating. If he is, Here is an excellent article on bearded dragon brumation that may help. https://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/brumation/

Thank you for reading, hope your beardie gets better. Good luck!

"What do you feed your dragon?" I feed him crickets, super worms, freeze dried grasshoppers, collard greens, and blueberries. "What type of greens?" specified earlier. "What insects do you feed him?" specified earlier. "When was the last time he pooped?" the 2nd of February. "When you saw his poop did you notice if the Urate (white part of poop) had any reddish orange or rusty tinge to it?" no it was completely white. "How often do you feed him?" 1-2 times a day. "How many gallons is your beardie's tank?" 40 gallons and he lived in a 40 gallon his entire life. "How long is your dragon?" he is about a foot and a half long. "How much does he weigh? (Grams, ounces, pounds)" he weighs 10.8 ounces "When was the last time you took him to a reptile vet?" we have only had my bearded dragon for 2 weeks and we haven't taken him to the vet yet. "Do you have a reptile vet?" no

i don't know how to post pics so here are the urls just put them in your search bar and it should take you to them:

You are much better off with live crickets, dubia roaches, hornworms, or superworms. collard greens, and blueberries. "What type of greens?" specified earlier. Everything sounds good. but is it a he or a she? if its a male, then you need to take him to a vet ASAP. If you have a female then it is normal Behavior and she would most likely has infertile eggs. Which you can go to a reptile vet and ask for a ultrasound to see if there are follicles. (soon to be eggs.) Where did you get your beardie?

You seem to be taking great care of your beardie. :) keep up the good work. Hope he gets better.

During your dragon’s brumation, it is wise to keep their heat and lights on as usual in his basking spot in case he does wake up for a snack or a stretch. If he eats anything at all, it’s necessary to have the light and heat because his metabolism needs it to digest properly before going back to sleep. Continue to keep the other end of his tank cooler.

In the wild, dragons will sometimes bury themselves in the soil to keep from freezing, and their bodies will draw moisture from the ground, through their vent, during their winter sleep to ensure that they remain adequately hydrated enough to survive until spring.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
