I found a dragon on Craigslist that needs a home that can give her more attention. The owner says he feels bad that she wants out and to be held all the time and he doesn't have the time for her anymore. She will come with her tank and "stuff". How much of her stuff is correct, remains to be seen.

I want another dragon (someday) and the idea of getting one that needs a home seems great.

I have roaches coming out of my ears and Zig is brumating.... So, food is not an issue.

I feel kindof guilty about getting another dragon. Will it take away from Zig (the spoiled rotten master of all of us)? Will he get upset by it?

I dont have the room for another viv to be in the family room, where Zig's viv is, so a second one would have to be in my room...

I don't know what to do!

I would say go for it, does the post have pics? I've got two rescues who came from less than proper conditions, and both of them have had me running around ten times more than Oz ever did. They can definately be a handful, but my biggest cuddle bug with the best temperment is a rescue. I'm pretty sure she's part dog, from how she act.

Thanks for the reply. :) No, no pics of her. I told him I'd have to meet her frist but, if she's as sweet as he says I'd have to take her and if she's in bad condition then I couldn't leave her there so.....

Yeah, I understand completely! I seem to have time for all three of mine, they come out in shifts while I'm working on homework. A second dragon will definately help with the roach overpopulation
Let me know how it goes!

Questiom, is Zigs a male? Cause if he is you need to be prepared for him (once he comes out of brumation) to headbob, blackbeard, and flare most of the day everyday for a week or two as his hormones will be raging and there will be another dragon in the house for him to focus all of his attentions on.

Yes Ziggy is a male.

Will this happen even if they are not in the same room? What about if I got another male instead of a female? Will this change Zigs personality?

well... i think if you have the time to juggle more than one beardie, then first of all you are amazing, i have trouble with one lol, and second your so sweet for looking at adoption! From what you have said i might would go for it! as for your baby, when he comes out of brumation i dont think it really matters if you have a male or a female... my reasoning is because your baby i'm sure will sense there is anohter dragon in the house... even if he cant see it, i read about people on here who have dragons in different parts of the house and how when the other first came home thier first one was all puffy and black and things like that. maybe someone more experienced than me could throw some other thoughts at you! Good luck in what ever you decide!!

Though i dont know about oposite ends of the house, i do know they can sense each other. My big male, Dr. Evil, his tank has a full cover over the fron (to keep his stress and the stress of my females low as they all are in my reptile room), knew the second my second male came in. Never saw him but just knew. Started headbobbing and display ferociously. Took about 2 weeks for it to stop. I attribute the length of time to him having just came out of brumation and having been used to being the only male. Your dragon is used to being the only dragon. now a female is going to come in and he will sense her, and with him coming out of brumation, mating is number 1 priority on his mind. If you get a male he will go into defense mode. Either way it wont change his attitude towards you, but he will display a lot in his tank, sort of a display of dominance. Basically he is asserting that this is his home blah blah blah. Dont worry doesnt last long and then you will have two beardies.

Thanks Brian. I appreciate your advice. Zig is young, 8 1/2 months, will he still want to mate so young?

We have 2 males and 4 females. I have time for them all my kids help with their own beardies and mine. To be honest it dosnt matter if you get a male or female he will still headbob and blackbeard after coming our of brumation. Rather they are in the same room or not but thats part of their personality i love about our dragons. I say go for it. I think its great you looked for one that needs a home. Females can get very hormonal too. Our Chimaira is awake and shes like a beardie on crack. I agree with spyder79 on the hitting puberty thing our Bobble went nuts at 5 to 6 months of age. He wanted to fight the other male and get to one of the girls and he would try the craziest stuff to get to them too. Even covering the vivs when it was roam time didnt help he knew right were they were.

Wow. Sounds like alot of new adventures! :)

I gave Zig a bath today, which he seems to enjoy so much more these days, and he pooped! Hurray! So I am off to the vet to drop off the stool sample.

You won't regret getting a 2nd one but I must tell you though.. when I got MJ I knew I didn't want another just because I didn't wanna 'upset' her for having to share her mommy. Then I found my 'dumpster beardie' lol, and I love him as much... BUT ....
I do have to admit eventhough both get their own cuddles, roaming time (seperately) and sleep in the bed with me.. MJ gets a LITTLE bit more of everything. I take MJ everywhere with me where Prince just stays home... when I'm out somewhere, I panic when I can't get home in time because MJ needs her cuddles. MJ gets her preferred worms since she's picky, Prince gets crickes. I love them both the same but MJ will always be the one who holds the key to mommy's heart :D I"m sure you'll love them both the same, just letting you know how favoritism might take place

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
