Shipping a beardie?

Well, long story short. Im helping a fellow herper out, by offering a home for his bearded dragon. The thing im giving him a home and all i have to do is pay for shipping. What method do you use? I know the basic supplies
Such as a box, pillow case, styrofoam insulation, ventilation, etc etc.
But shipping through SYR is Killer! from Georgia to Florida, The quote was about 110.00 Which is a bit to much. Ive read somewhere Where people spend about about 35.00 through some type of shipper.

If you know of any place that ships overnight, And is reasonable.
Id really appreciate it. And Any tips for a first timer shipping a reptile would be appreciated as well.

Could Usps be used, Or ups?
Id like to know a cheaper/safer alternative as well.

If nothing else, it should save you some money on shipping. A quick quote I did for a 5x5x5 package (which is small but just an example I put) from Atlanta to Orlando is less than $40 on this site. It compares what FedEx normally charges vs their reduced price.

Does the size of the box increase the price of the shipping?
I know the person is is shipping me a full grown beardie, so i dont know what size box they should use.
40.00 sounds alot more reasonable.

Definitely do not use a 5x5 box for a full grown beardie. The size of the box will increase shipping costs, but you'll receive a very stressed out beardie if you ship him incorrectly.

I've shipped before, actually with that same group,
but thanks a lot for the packing info. ^w^
except the 'we normally put holes in the sides' part scares me..
to work, the heat packs need a continuous supply of oxygen. without the holes,
the beardie would suffocate because the packs would steal all the oxygen

As you can see she is a chunker, and she's 17.5 inches, I don't think she could possibly fit into a 5x5 box..even if she tried XD
