Hey i have a Female Beardie Shes 4 or 5 years of age

Tank size isnt a problem
Temps are how they should be

Shes so picky on what she eats wont eat her Greens or any fruits sometimes Grapes and Strawberrys. Mostly just Crickets.

Well she was fine till 3 weeks ago She stoped using her front legs and her balance is off always falling over when climbing her Half wood. She walks on her Wrists and when she Breathes her whole body inflates and she exhales and it makes popping noises like *Grapic image* Like a pluged nose with snot in it when u breathe in and out it makes that noise. also sometimes she starts licking around her mouth like something came up shes putting it back down. I am taking her to the Vet soon but. i want to know what i should do first. Blood work or Fecal Test? Mal Bone problem shouldnt be a problem she gets all the Cal she needs from the 36" Reptisun UVB 10.0 its 7 in a half inches away form her. and i also give her Liquid Bone Cal.

Shes on Child play sand which i herd does not inpact and she used to have a tile side till i took it out due to the Wrist walking.

A friend of mind said a Parasite normally causes the legs to stop moving. i just wanna know how she got it after 5 years of having her. i have a Male beardie as well both in different tanks. hes perfectly fine.


Any questions feel free to ask its 3am right now and i don't know what else to add. OH when i open her mouth to put water in color is fine. she Eats the king worms i give her and swims around in the bathtub. Poops fine.

I'm so sorry your poor girl isn't feeling too well. I'm am not an expert in this field, but it sounds like your girl may have a respiratory infection(with the clicking sounds you mentioned) and the walking on the wrists sounds to me like MBD(Metabolic Bone Disease). Like I said I am no expert and am purely speculating. What I am going to do is ask you a list of questions, some you have already answered, but if you could answer the questions, then when one of the moderators is on the site they will be able to help you out.

How old is your beardie?
What Type & Brand UVB are you using?
Are you using a separate basking bulb?
What are the temps on basking and coolside?
What are you measuring the temps with...a digital thermometer w/wire and probe, stick on, temp gun?
Are you bathing your beardie and how often?
Do you mist your dragon?
Is there any standing water in her viv?
Do you give your beardie calcium and multivitamins? and how often?
Do you gutload her crickets?
What do you feed your beardie? and how often?
When was the last time your beardie pooped?
When was the last time she had a fecal exam?
What type of substrate is in the viv?

If you could answer these questions....it will make it much easier for someone to help you.

I mostly want to say to take her to the vet asap as it truely sounds serious. I have lost a beardie to a respiratory infections and is is a very sad thing.
The mobility problems may or may not have to do with that...it sounds like that might be as Dawn mentioned MBD or some type of UVB or supplement deficiency.

She may need blood work to determine what is going on with her.
Also how old is your reptisun?

What dosage of Liquid calcium are you giving her? And how much does she weight?

Are you suplimenting her food with calcium powder? If so, are you giving with or without vitamin D3?

Are you suplimenting any multivitamins? If so, How often?

I just wanted to point out that your beardie does not "GET" any calcium through the Reptisun 10.0. They must be given a high calcium diet along with calcium supliments, The UVB source only helps their body process the calcium they are being given.

I agree with Fresnowitte, and I think a visit to the vet is in order here... As far as what is more important right now... Save the fecal for later and get blood work done so you can find out exactly how much calcium she has in here body.

Age: close to 5 years
Brand of UVB: 36" Tube Reptisun 10.0 7 in a half inches from her body
Basking bulb: is a 100watt Zoo med Repti Basking spot lamp From the distance i have it on a Stand it produces 112.4 F Cold side is around 77.8 to 78 (digital Reading with Probe and a Temp gun)
Bathing: Everyday she also drinks and its luke warm water. I do mist her inside her tank but the Humidity doesnt go above 20% and shes under her basking area when i do.
No Standing water in the tank
I give Multivid on Fri Sat and Sun and then Cal Mon - Thur in Liquid form. T-Rex Bone Aid i place 3 drops in her mouth
I do gutload my Crickets and Dubia Roaches.
i try and feed my beardie everyday, if she doesnt feel like eatting i don't force her. i try Collard greens and mustard greens Zucini and yellow Squash but she rarely eats that. she likes grapes but refuses them lots of the time. She likes the movement of Crickets and Roaches also wax and meal worms and also Kingworms.
She actully just pooped 6 hours ago its 10:57 right now, Nice size not runny its solid. (wouldnt call it nice sort of speaking lol)
She has never had a Fecal Exam had no problems till now.
Childs play sand for Sub.
The Repti 10.0 bulb is about 6 months old. it lasts a year the 10.0 ones do.
Shes in a 48L 16W 16 D Tank well Ventilated. Never drops below 72F in my room.

I already said in my Post i am taking her to the Vet soon i am Calling tomorrow (monday) for a tuesday app. i have 2 days off work.

Ill post some pics of Both my Beardies if anyone wants em i don't have any of her as in Sick wise just the Healthy kind.

Took her to the Vet and 365 bucks later NOTHING, took xrays, her bones look fine. doc said they look perfect her lungs arnt colapsed, and i got blood work done and you know all she could said was, I don't know what could be wrong. i got antiboitcis for something i dont even know what it is, all i know is i have to freeze it and im sure my lizard doesnt want Cold liquid in her body (Shots) so till the blood work gets back ill give an Update

im ticked ATM because here she is suffering she cant sleep and this is BS, i was thinking she coulda had a Stoke? but doubt it.

Ok, the temps seem to be fine, since you are using a digital probe to measure them. Is her nose getting ready to shed, & could the
plugged up nose be due to her nostrils being blocked with skin? I am just covering all bases.
The symptoms you are describing sound like initial onset of metabolic bone disease. While you do have the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb within the 6-8 recommended distance, that does help. What type of light were you using as the UVB prior to the Reptisun 10?
The UVB flourescent tube lights do not last for 1 year even though they may appear to still work because the light comes on. The UVB emissions decline after around 6 months & it is very important to change the light out.
Has she ever laid any eggs that you know of?
Which antibiotic did you get, Ceftz?
When will the bloodwork be back? If you don't mind, could you please get me a copy of that so I could look over it? I would appreciate it. Thanks.
How do her eyes look right now, are they sunken in, or bright & elevated? Is her beard normal color or black off & on?
On the bottle of the Bone Aid, what does the amount say? Does it have a specific amount in there, in ounces, ml's? What is the concentration of it? I do not think that 3 drops are probably enough. How much does she weigh?
She only needs a multivitamin 1 time per week since she is an adult. Which brand do you use?
