my new baby beardie is having a really hard time shedding. this is my 1st one so i am in the learning stage and really need to know what to do. How long do they shed?
Correct nice long 15 to 20 minutes soaks or however long you baby will put up with it in luke warm water up to his armpits will help with the shed. It will also help greatly in keeping you baby hydrated.
Not sure just how little your baby is but you might place a wash clothe in the bottom of a small tub or the sink it will work to help your baby from slip sliding around.
While they are little...it really almost seems as if they are in a constant shed...shed, grow....shed, grow...as they get older instead of shedding like the tail, legs, and arms and then the body...adults will usually shed in patches here and there.
Hi there, you mentioned that he is having a real hard time shedding, how long has it been going on? With a baby & since yours is only 4" long, the shedding each time should come off quickly and be almost non-stop. So many things can affect the shedding and growing process, so if you could fill us in on your setup details it would be helpful. What type & brand of UVB are you using, what are the tank temps & what type of thermometer are you using, what type of substrate is on the bottom of the tank, what is the humidity in his tank, what and how often do you feed, how often are you dusting with calcium & vitamins, how often are you bathing him?
