Shedding, won't eat?

So to start out my beardie is about 2 1/2 months old and is going through his first shed with me. He's been cranky on and off for the past two weeks, but he's always eaten a good amount of Dubai roaches throughout the day quite eagerly. Three days ago I switched back to crickets and he was devouring them. Shed his body Saturday so now all that's left is his little head. Today I got up, following the same old routine as always, and went to feed him. He ran down like always for feeding time, ate a piece of salad from the greens I gave him earlier that morning,yet refused any crickets. I've tried feeding him three times today and each time he will turn his head and act interested, even run after them a bit, but ultimately just give up. Not sure if this is because he's uncomfortable or cranky or what, it's just very strange that all of a sudden he doesn't want anything to do with the crix... Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm a new beardie mom still unsure of some things!

Head shedding can get them especially moody for a little while. Keep offering the food but don't worry too much if he refuses, especially if he's alert and active. He'll dig in when he's ready (probably when the head shed clears). Keep an eye out for eye bulging. It's disconcerting to see the first time but it's normal.
