My bearded dragon is around 11 or 12 months old, and he has not shed in months. Over the last 2 weeks a random large patch on his back has been getting darker and darker and he is finally starting to peel up on the edges. Every other time he has shed it has been neat defined sections, this is the first time that a random large patch has shed like this, im assuming its normal but i just want to be 100% sure. it goes from his right shoulder to the left side of the base of his tail for a general idea of the shape.

Yup, totally normal for only certain areas to shed as they get bigger :)

Mine's (6 mo.) doing similar as I type this--odd shaped patch on his back. Bordering areas are just now showing some haze & catching up, but there's definitely a time lag of 1-2 weeks between the main area and the rest of his back.

Possibly related to amount of UVB they get on their backs? :dontknow:
The middle gets more because it's closer to the bulb, and at a distance where 1/2" can mean a difference of 1.0 UVI.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
