So Sonic went from running around the tank like a Nut and digging like a mad woman (she was posessed LOL) To doing absolutely nothing.. She climbed up onto her log two days ago and has been there since! I changer her food daily but she has not touched it. I mist her daily, sometimes twice. She gets a bath every other day.. Perhaps she is needing it more? Her skin is looking loose.. Is that a sign of dehydration?

What should I be doing more of? Her temps are still fine... I was going to get some more worms and crickets for her to eat to see if that will get her moving..

She will look at me and then it's almost like she is rolling her eyes at me and then looks away.. (Is she mad at me??? )

you should actually only bathe her once a week..the misting will raise the humidity in the cage and bathing her every other day isn't necessary. for food try some roaches mine go crazy for them or Phoenix worms cause they move around a lot so it might get her attention

have we(BD.org) gone over your set up with you yet? Many tomes we can find the cause by doing that.

I agree with the not misting in the enclosure, due to humidity problems, but you may bathe her more than once a week, especially in a possible case of dehydration.

As GoFast mentioned....has your setup been closely examined....just in case?

She is in a 55 Gallon Aquarium

She has a Powersun 100 WATT MVB Bulb and a 75 Watt Standard Halogen bulb that I have on a dimmer switch to adjust for her heat as needed (Her heat is 102-108) I have to adjust it when the AC kicks in.. Cool side is 75-82

And here is the queen...

And I measured her at her last bath.. She was about 16 inches from tip of nose to tip of tail..

And I WILL be getting rid of the sand.. Soon.. Shadow has the same sand in his tank as well.. Just need to get the tiles...

And the more I look at her set up.. Is it too bare??

im not gonna like here Julie...your lighting and heat set up looks just fine so I am a little perplexed. The sand is a negative as you already stated so maybe that has something to do with this? When was the last poop? what do you normally feed her and what supplements(dusting) are being used? calicium? multivitamins?

How old is she? Did you notice her laying eggs or anything when she was 'psycho'? I've seen behaviour posts on beardies acting like that when they're laying. My only guess is that, if she did, she's calmed down now. :dontknow:

Honestly, I don't know what to say. Maybe we should get Tracie in here? (she's smart)

I looked at the picture you posted of your beardie and honestly her skin does not look loose to me, then again maybe it's the angle.

I did pm Tracie earlier, only because I noticed you are using a Powersun mvb and I know there have been some health issues related to some of them. Are you aware of these issues? There are a few threads on the Powersun. I believe one of the main problems people have been mentioning are with their beardies closing their eyes. Have you noticed your beardie closing her eyes at all?

Jacqui....she already posted a thread when her beardie was going quote "psycho". My first thought also was, is she gravid? The owner said she felt nothing in the beardies stomach to make her think she was.

They both get Greens and Romaine Lettuce along with carrot shavings, apples, grapes, cabbage. Weekly they get Superworms and crickets. Perhaps I should increase this? They also get Beardie pellets when I don't have the live food.

Her last poop was about 5 days ago :( .. I will be bathing her again later today. She Actually ATE today though! She RAN to her dish this morning before I could change it out and just sat there looking at it.. Like.. CHANGE THIS! LOL... So I gave her some Greens, carrots, and grapes. She munched away!! Climbed up on her log to soak up the heat.. And now she is on the lower part of the log.. passed out...

As for her lights.. YES I do see her closing her eyes, usually one at a time to keep an eye on things I suppose... But yeah she does do that from time to time.. Shadow doesn't seem to do that though and he has the same lights... just a smaller wattage halogen for heat.

I ASSUME that they are about 2 years old as I was told they were about a year and a half old in November when I got them.. Shadow has gotten PLUMPER than sonic. and is about an inch longer than she.. Maybe I just have a "girlie girl"?

Today her skin does not look as loose as it was.. Maybe it was just cause she didn't have a full tummy?? She drinks when she is in the bath.

And when I say "mist". It is really only like a spray or two on them.. they really like it.. But if that is messing with humidity? Then I will no longer do that.. And they will just have to Black Beard me for a bit til they get used to it..

Hi Julie,

Here is one of the threads on the PowerSun. Maybe you could go through it and see if other owners were having similar symptoms as your girl. I remember reading that not all PowerSuns were having problems. I believe there was a bad batch that came out of France(I think that's what Tracie had said. Don't quote me on the France part  )

Hello,

When did you buy your Powersun 100 watt? There have been some problems being reported with them recently. They began distributing them in October of 2008.
No, they did not come out of France, I am not sure where they originated probably here in the US I would assume.
Frances Baines is gathering data regarding the ones that are causing problems & any dragons or other reptiles that are experiencing eye problems, etc.
If you have any problems with her eyes, etc, let me know & I will let you know where to post your case if she has had or is having eye issues so we can keep all of the data in one or two places. Thanks.

I got the Dragons in November and the lights in Early December... She does shut her eyes from time to time and does not hang out for long under the MVB. For a while she was flipping out literally! She would actually jump at the MVB light and hang from the screen top, and then "flip" when she dropped.. They don't look swollen from what I can tell though....

Hi Julie.....I would suggest turning off the Powersun mvb and getting yourself another uvb source.I will let Tracie get back to you on this matter, but I'm pretty sure she will suggest the same thing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
