She ate a piece of her fake rock

I don't know why she feels the need to eat everything. She was biting at the fake rock we made her so I went to get her superworms. She's been brumating so she hasn't been eating. When I got over to her she had a big chunk in her mouth. I grabbed her and tried to get it out but she just snapped on my finger. It's styrofoam and grout. And now I'm bawling. What should I do?

Hi there....styrofoam is non toxic, but check your grout can or tube to see if that is...probably not, but just to be sure. Styrofoam doesn't break down but she should be able to pass it, especially if you offer her canned pumpkin or squash to help move it along...but if it was very large she might have real trouble. Just watch for extreme lethargy, gaping, vomiting. Hopefully it will pass through, but you'll have to decide if it's safe to have that in her tank.

I force fed her some squash baby food and I took the thing out we got the non toxic kind. She just really wanted to eat it. At first when I heard her doing it I thought she was just scratching at it. But it was just her biting. The vet said to try to let it pass too but didn't give me a whole lot of help. She's a rescue and she's doing so well, I would hate to see something happen to her. Should I try to give her vegetable oil or something to help it pass?

It won't hurt to add a few drops of veg. oil to the squash or pumpkin, but it should pass with the bulk of the food that moves it through.
