I use tile as well, and I still have to clip Kalec's nails, though not very often. One of my jobs is at a dog grooming salon, so I'm very used to trimming nails. I just use a pair of cat nail clippers and clip a small bit off the nails so they're not sharp. Be very careful of the quick though as sometimes it can actually be further up than what it appears to be on the outside of the nail.

I use baby nail clippers, the small size allows for more control. I also wait til they're sleepy to skip the squirming!

Using a nail file works well...i use to use that with my parrot and iguana. i worked at the vets a number of years as a vet tech and would trim birds and reptile and rabbit nails as I had experience with them. If u do cut too short and it starts bleeding it can be difficult to get it to stop. With using a nail file it takes just the sharp point off without going too close. I do use clippers but have done that for a long time. Of course they may squirm, I would put him/her in a towel and leave just one foot out at a time and do just a little at a time. better to go not enough than too much. My Parrot would hold her foot out for me to file lol I dont see a dragon doing that. Towels are what i used at the vets.

I've tried filing down the nails, but since their toes are so flexible and the dragons themselves are so easy going, I was afraid I was going to end up bending one of the toes the wrong way....

I am gonna get the tile this weekend and play the waiting game to see if it helps keep her nails filed.. Maybe i'm just a big baby when it comes to being poked and scratched. Love is pain, right? lol

I'm just so scared I am gonna hurt her or cut too short.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
