Hello I have 2 beardies who are going on about 6 months old,I'm thinking I have 2 females but I just want to be sure. When I first put my other one in the tank with the other one, they fought, then have been best friends ever since. lol

Yes, I love beardie anatomy. LOL, any animal anatomy for that matter. :D I can help. To answer your first question they are both ladies. I am not an expert, but comparing them to my Nim, they are girls.

Those are called femoral pores. I think they excrete hormones, like hormone glands in other animals. Males are said to have larger ones, but this is sometimes different. I have two pictures of different females on this site who have large femoral pores. But they are most defiantly female because of the tail trick. My Nim has tiny femoral pores but I know for a fact that he is a male. Some use this to sex their beardies, but as I just explained, this could be wrong. But the tail bumps never lie. :D

Ah yes, the infamous shoulder pads. No-one knows what they are used for. I started a discussion but no-one truly knew. I do know that my Nim's stick out a little and he LOVES it when I gently rub them. :D

Oh, and they aren't housed together right? You said that they fought and then became 'friends'. I think they fought and one became the more dominant one. Not really became friends. Anyways, I hope I answered your questions correctly. :D

Those little bumps in the laste picture i noticed only my females have. Not the shoulder pads but the points that the males hold on to when trying to mate. I have 6 beardies and all my girls have them, my boys none.

Oh wow, I saw the picture wrong, LOL. It's the bumps above the shoulder pads, not the shoulder pads themselves. Wait, if you say that is what the male holds onto to mate the female. Then why does my Nim have them? I know I haven't sexed wrong. I lift up the tail and on the base right by the vent, are two bumps. If I posted a pic everybody would say boy. Unless of course, my Nim is both. LOL

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
