I took in a very ill beardie and his girlfriend from a friend whom I met through my herp club. I met this beardie about a year ago and he had slight tremors and the early minor underbite. He's about 4-5 years and has a severe scoliosis of his spine near the base of his tail. It is interfering with his ability to poop, only small amounts at a time. His jaw is receding. I have liquid calcium, calcium glubionate that I have been giving him @ 1ml/kg dose daily. He about 200g so he gets .3ml. Oh, yeah he has really awful tremors, too but They have gotten a little better since I started. I have had him one week. He flips over and I have found him on his back a couple of times now. It's because of the bend in his back, I have watched him. The bottom half of his tail is getting darker with a thinning at the darker part. When I pinch it there's no response. He might have a RI, have noticed mucus around his mouth and he makes like little gasps now and then. Don't worry the setup is good, my reptisun 10 is getting alittle old and will be replaced soon. So my questions are:
How often should he get calcium? Dose ok?
Eating is fair. Babyfood chicken and squash with a coupla supers now and then.
Giving him reptaid, too.
Do I bother trying to get him better? Is he too far gone?
Vet swore when he saw him and said get him on the calicium (my former exotics teacher, I'm finishing up my vet tech schooling and he forgot to fill me in on the dose).
I am really not sure how much I put him thru at this point.
Should I just be giving supportive care at this point? Any advice is welcome.... Thanks! He's such a sweet little boy and we love him already.
