SEVERE shedding problem

Went to the vet again, going to try force feeding her the baby food meat with a bit of her calc and vitamins mixed in but she won't take water from a dropper anymore and is in rough shape. She got a shot of B12 and I'll give her one or two days to see if she eats but her eyes are almost completely closed now ..

Ever noticed how judgemental people can be in our little hobby? I guess because over 90% of all herp related problems are from improper care so understandable I guess. But when you have multiple types of herps for years and spent countless dollars and hours consumed with researching them just for the sheer interest of it then its really disheartning to loose one. I'm fairly sure she isn't going to make it. When I pick her up she shoots her front arms straight out from her body and goes stiff. I bought a can of crickets, my only options were that or grasshoppers .. blending them is kinda disgusting but no biggie, I'm totally willing to try it. I'm hoping it the B12 kicks in and she'll eat ..

Funny I remember long ago when I saw my first beardie in the pet store and thought it was the most amazing thing, then I remember seeing worms wiggling around in the dish and near gagged .. now years later and I've sucessfully bred 3 different type of worms and have a good 1000 worms in my house at any given time and now I am ready to toss them into a blender lol Friends on my facebook think I'm insane when I proudly post about my various herps, new additions, egg clutchs or hatchlings lol It's a herp thing I guess, outsiders just don't understand the satisfaction and obsession. My 7yr old is right into it too, he reads my Reptile magazines for fun and builds his own styrofoam enclsoure pieces .. my 3yr old loves to feed and pet them all. Gotta bring them up right hahah As for my husband he steers clear of my herp room for the most part and kinda fakes interest when my kids tell him in an excited voice that they have more pupas in their worm conatiners

Hi, if not taking water from dropper then when do baby food add some water(bottled). Make sure not to much, I find best way if can watch them or atleast see sort time after to see moistore content in there poo, before start to dry out. If she B.D. you should mix with baby food meat veg. like squash or green beans half and half then add some water with your other things like Vit., hope helps. Got alot issue's with my 9 month old male but need to do in another thread. One thing with slur forget trying figure out if need to add some fat cause not using baby meat, thinking what to use. Have oil in house, olive, soy and corn, or use something else do add some fish oil once in while but only little, like to get fat up to 5 or 10 percent in slur.

I have oilve and corn oil in the house .. someone even suggested canned cat food becasue it would be good for protein and I could get a fish type. Never heard of someone feeding that .. going to stick with the my crickets/worm/babyfood slur and the bottled water is a good idea. Her poo (and I mean the 1 she has had in the last week) was mostly liquid because she hasn't been eating anything solid.

Did not see your post when did mine, must been very close in time. If useing blender to make mix instead of baby food add what said about water to that mix. You some up herp thing very good, most of us go thur that in different ways with our pets over time.

Yeah because when she at now make it hard to read poo. Still if not drinking and think needs add to mix, start out little first few days and see if can get read to increase. Trying to think how tell how much but I mix up only like 3 teaspoon at time and when add bottle water ( need to cause using right now whey protien power instead of baby meat) I can just tell by stirring it up and see how fast run off spoon, I do middle not think or loose so best way to say comes off spoon easy but not fast. Cat food is most time higher in protein than dog but I'll use these only at times to feed my bugs, use baby or combo stated before or mix between which looks like what you did. Got so much on my mind forgot to mention before had success adding soy yogart to mix, again if mix 3 teaspoon total add like 1/2 teaspoon soy yogart to that.

I have no advice to offer, but I wanted to say I feel so sorry for you. I know you are in Canada and that its hard to find a good rep vet.
Apperently parasites can cause this issue too, have you had her checked for that previously or not? I read most of your post but I kinda ran to the end cause I was looking for a happy ending I did some research online, and I find many stories like yours, not to this extreeme but where it starts around the toes and eyelids. It seems to be a genetic issue for the breed to different degrees. I would probably say though, that if she don't make it, have her autopsied (or how you spell that). Cause if there is no physical illness then people know from the get go that it's genetic and that a change in breeding plans need to be done as well as people will learn to have that special skin medication at hand emidately instead so they dont get into as rough shape and can hopefully get over the shedding easier and quicker. Information from your poor girl would probably help saving the life of many more. Cause I found in 10minutes 30 something threads about similar issues to yours. Granted some if probably from impromper care however I find it's an alarming rate to be honest none the less. In your case after reading everything I am sure it's nothing you have control over, I can just dream of the day I get as much knowledge (working on it though). I just wanted to say that I am really keeping fingers crossed and my heart goes out to you and Im keeping you in my thoughts!

Well ... it's over .. my little Powder girl is no more *cry* Drops and shots and days of force feeding to no avail. She was on the verge of death, almost non responsive so she made one final trip to the vet. He was kind enough not to charge me anything this time. I kind of question the quality of life she would have had if she had survive this, constant shedding struggles and even then I'd need a lot more testing to try to find out why and that would mean shipping her off ..someone on here mentioned an autopsy but they wouldn't have the capability of doing that here, honestly it's mostly cat/dog type vets here. The help you guys gave me on this forum was by F A R better, thanks guys. First herp lost

I am so sorry for your loss, but you gave the little fella as good life as anyone could of.
You are an amazing owner, and she was lucky to have you as far as she did.

These little guys hatched today, the mother is my tang carrot tail and the father was my friend's super snow so I was surprised to get an albino hatching .. think I may keep the cute little pink one to replace my other poor little albino girl that I lost.
