Heya!

I'm fairly new to the world of beardies, having owned my first bearded dragon for a little over a month and my second for just under a week.
Both of these dragons were purchased from the same pet-store which kept about 10+ beardies per vivarium. They where apparently fed 2-3 crickets a day each. Though the stores employees couldn't have been sure of this without separating them and feeding them each individually~ which they didn't.
Both of my bearded dragons are roughly seven months old. Ozzy my first bearded dragon was about 5-6 inches when I brought her home, she was the biggest of the bunch. After a month with me she's close on 8 inches (missing and inch on her tail and a toe, due to being kept with so many other babies).
Biffy my newest little guy is the same age as Ozzy but he is only 3 inches from head to tail, (He's missing over half of his tail though) but even with that added length he is tiny. His arms and legs are like twigs. His ribs are showing. He literally looks like the 1 week old babies I've seen for sale online.
I'm doing my best to pump these guys full of dusted crickets and veggies. I dust 'em with calcium 5 times a week and multi-vitamins 2 times a week.
I'm worried that these guys will never reach anywhere near the normal 20 inches, in fact I cant see Biffy ever getting passed 8 inches.
I really want to know if their time in the pet-store has stunted their growth, and if so how will this affect their health overall?
Is there a chance they could still reach their full size and be totally healthy? Ozzy I'm not so worried about she's eating, pooping, and running about like the little legend she is, and she's grown at least two inches since I brought her home, as well as a lovely round belly.
Biffy though.. I dunno.

bad care can stunt their growth and you mentioned that there were a bunch or babies in together which meens he probly got dominated and didnt get enough to eat. my sydney (got him at petco) took forever to hit his growth spurt hes big now but i dont think he will ever be as big as a normal male.

Missing over half the tail means that Biffy's going to be missing over half his adult length tail, so I wouldn't hope for much more than about 14". The biggest thing to worry about is getting him fed, and good heating and lighting. You'll want an arcadia 12 tube light, basking temp should be 110f, hot side >90f, cool side >75f. If you house the two together, separate them immediately. It will cause more grief than it's worth. It's late, so I won't go into it. Read through the 71 pages of the ER thread, about every fifth problem is determined to be caused by dual housing.

Hey, well he started eating this morning around about 7 crickets for his first feeding, I've got some greens in there with him now. I have the reptisun 10.0 strip bulb in there with him at the moment, I think its the equivalent to an arcadia.
I don't have them housed together, the bigger one is in a 40 gallon and the smaller one is in a 20 gallon.
So hopefully he keeps sup the appetite and reaches around 14 inches, I'd be happy with that. He's just too fragile at the moment!

Yes, ReptiSUN 10.0 is the same as the Arcadia 12%.

I'm a little concerned about your tank size. Once full grown, your beardies will need about 4'x2' enclosure.

Read up on the enclosures stickies. A little work now can really help improve your dragon's quality of life, and help them grow faster.

Okay I seem to have misjudged the size of my larger tank. I just put the measurements from it into a gallon calculator thing.. and it came up 97.14 US Gallons. Thats 80.92 UK Gallons.
The larger tank is 66" long, by 20" tall by 17" wide.
The smaller tank is a 20 Gallon.
Will the larger tank do for a fully grown Bearded Dragon? If so I will eventually upgrade to a similar sized one for the newer dragon, once he starts getting too cramped in the smaller tank.

The ig thing is giving your dragon enough room to turn their bodies without hitting the sides. Your larger tank should be fine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
