Ok. So. Frederick my 4 year old is not eating, sleeping all the time. And will no eat or drink anything. Xrays showed he is full of poop. But he wont go. Ive been bathing him every day, massaging his tummy as well as force feeding baby food with olive oil. He still wont poop. Currently i am sitting with him while he is sleeping in the bath. :/

I am at my wits end here. Ive done everything short of an enema or surgical removal.

I need suggestions on how to help my baby! Still waiting on bloodwork from the vet. As well as a urate lvl check.

Here are his everythings that you all will ask. Lol
Temps: hot side 100, cold side 85 repti bulbs as well as a ceramic heater
Substrate finely crushed walnuts, i know not as bad as sand, but the only thing i can use(he ripped his nails out on non diggable substrates)
Baths once a week tho i need to up it since he only poops in the bath
Food crickets, mealworms, various fruits & veggies daily.
Play time is always supervised by me
50 gallon tank set up as well. Bulbs changed every 6 months.

I think thats it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Karolyn....is there any way you can post the X-rays here ? They belong to you, so you can get them if you want. If he really is impacted my guess would be it's the ground walnut shell. He would be able to pass his food, especially if you're giving him all the natural laxatives . If he is actually asleep in the bath, it sounds pretty critical IF it's actually impaction. There's always the possibility of late brumation, but if the X-rays are accurate then I do suspect it's walnut shell. Google " walnut shell impaction " and you'll find pics of X-rays online. If you're absolutely sure, then you might ask the vet for a light enema to help get things going. Nothing forceful or too much fluid....that can cause extreme swelling .

Finally got him to go after alot of oil and massage!!! His urate is very large and hard i think thats why it got stuck. No walnut shells present.

That's great news ! I know that you're just as relieved as he is. :) Now to keep him hydrated in the future and try to keep it from reaching this state again. Water via syringe, a couple times a week, incorporate as many good veggies in his diet...squash, greens like turnip, mustard, collard, arugula, dandelion.

Hello,

That is good news he finally went to the bathroom, I am sure he feels better now.
Are you using a good UVB light & supplement with calcium on a regular basis?
If your light is older than 6 months, you should consider replacing it to keep it effective.

I hope he is doing better!

Lighting is replaced every six months regardless. Calcium supp is used with every cricket feeding. Hes just stubborn and wont poop unless he is in water. Ill up his bathing to every other day. Hopefully that will help

Hello,

Great, I am glad to hear the lighting is up to date also. :D
Increased bathing should help & you can also give extra oral hydration too so that should aid in softening the urates up also.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
