My beardie (Shenron) has had an impaction for about a month now. I have only been feeding him veggies ever since I noticed he was impacted. I bathe him about every other day and fed him apple sauce and olive oil during the baths. I also massage his stomache. His appetite is okay, and he acts normal. What else can I do to help him poo? Please help, Im very worried :(

Hello,

What is your setup like?
What type of substrate are you using, sand, tiles, paper towels?
What type of basking light do you use, is it a bright white light or a colored light?
What are the temps in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use? Is it a round stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Do you supplement calcium 5 times per week?
Do you use a UVB light? If so, what type & brand is it? A flourescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?

What is your setup like? 30 gallon
What type of substrate are you using, sand, tiles, paper towels? Reptile Carpet
What type of basking light do you use, is it a bright white light or a colored light? Bright white light 150 watt
What are the temps in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use? Is it a round stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun? 115 on the basking spot 87 on cool side. I use a round stick on thermometer
Do you supplement calcium 5 times per week? Yes, I put calcium in his salad every other day
Do you use a UVB light? If so, what type & brand is it? A flourescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light? I used a Repti Glo 10.0 before, but now I know its wrong and I should be getting a Repti Sun 10.0 soon. I turned off the repti glo about 3 weeks ago but I take him out for sun every day.

Hi-
Stick on thermometers can be off by as much as 20*F. You need to get a digital thermometer with a probe or a temp gun ASAP. The temps may be way to high in the tank. Also, I assume that the stick on is stuck to the wall and that's whats reading 115*? If so the basking spot is likely MUCH higher. Does your dragon actually bask or does he prefer the cool side of the tank?

My dragon does bask alot of the time and when I put my hand where he basks it seems pretty warm (not burning hot)

I would still recomend a digital with probe. Walmart has one made by Acurite for $12 and it measures humidity as well. Temps can be very important for a dragon so its necessary to get an acurate thermometer.
Sara
PS... good that he's basking!

I agree that a 150 watt bulb sounds like way too high for only a 30 gallon tank. Too high of temps can cause rapid dehydration and all sorts of problems. I suggest you drop down to a 100 watt household light bulb and get the thermometer that Sara suggested asap.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
