Seems to be getting less tame.

Seems my beardie is getting less tame the longer I own him not more.

When I first got him he would sit still when I picked him up and only wiggle a little. Now it's 2 weeks later and he's wiggling and scratching so hard my hands are getting cut up.

What should I be doing? Leaving him alone when he does that? Put him back in the viv? Just keep holding him till he gets worn out?

I heard you're suppose to handle them to make them tame but how can I do that when he's struggling so much I have to put him right back in his viv?

Don't put him back and keep handling but I suspect you are restraining him too much. They don't like to be held down or held too tight and babies are quite active, most want to jump and run around. Sit someplace safe like in a dry bath tub and just let him walk around on you. That way you are interacting but he has freedom.

He'd just jump out my hands and run away if I didn't hold him.

You could make a little pen around you with cardboard walls. Just get a bunch of old cardboard boxes and tape and make a pen. The bathtub works too but can get kinda boring for you sitting in there :lol: I was gonna make cardboard pen for Harley but she is opposite. In her cage she goes nuts and runs and jumps all over. Once I get outside, she calms down and usually sits on me or jumps down to the couch and sits there or slowly walks around. But again, i'd just do the pen and sit inside it on the floor cross leg style and watch tv and let her sit on you or do whatever on the floor. Good luck.

I close the door in the bathroom since its the only room where he can't hid anywhere and sit on the floor with him. Kasai hates me so thats the only bonding we can do thats safe and he has more freedom without actually having freedom.
