Seems like my beardie doesn't enjoy the heat as much.

So, Maggie my rescue wasn't kept with uvb or a strong heat lamp when I rescued her. nfortunately I think she has become accustomed to that. Her basking temps are between 85-100F depending on the time of day. She seems to go to the basking area, but only stays there for 5 or 10 minutes. Should I lower the temp, or let her get used to the heat?

What are you using to take temps with? You really don't want such a variation in temps at the basking spot especially when it's not enough. What kind of enclosure is she in? Screen top?

I mean, basking temps are only low in the morning when I first turn the lamp on. I shouldn't have included that. The temps are always at 95-100F
She does have a screen top, yes. And she's in a 75 gallon long tank.

Ah I see, well does she have multiple levels under the basking area so she can pick what temp she likes? You could try bumping it up a little to 100-105 and see if she likes that. What uvb are you currently using and is it placed by the basking area? Is it on top of the screen and how close can she get to it?

yes, she has multiple levels, I'm using a mercury vapor bulb, while I save up for the repti-sun 10.0 It is on top of the screen though.

How close can she get to the bulb? After a certain point she won't be getting adequate uv. How old is the bulb?

She can get around 12 inches away. It’s also about 3 weeks old
