I have been wanting to add more space to reptars 20 gallon long.
hes 8 1/2 inches at the moment. and things seem a little bit crowded for him.
im working on a custom viv at the moment, but that wont be done for a while.
so i came up with the idea to cut out a piece of wood that fits in his cage like a shelf, and leads up to it like a ramp.
im using styrofoam to see how it works. and placed some astroturf in his cage. (note, the foams only in there to see if my idea will work.)
im getting the wood cut tommorow. but i still havent decided how ill get it to stay. maybe silicone. but i dont want it to be permenant.
4 wooden posts that i can nail in. that way i can remove it. for cleaning purposes.
but heres a few pics. the foam was taken out after the photos were taken. but you get the idea of what im going for.
any advice/constructive critiscism will be much appreciated. and i would like to know if anyone else has done this, and if they would be willing to post pictures of it.

the wood would add a 10x12 inch space.
and it would leave the bottom open

Looks cool so far . What I would do is carve a rock structure into the foam. And make some hides and allow it to look more like the desert. If you look up fake lizard rocks on YouTube you'll see how. It's would add a dimension to your tank that's almost like you grabbed a slice of the desert and dropped it in his home. Just my 2¢

if you raise it with styrofoam like that you wont make any more room. id use styrofoam pillars covered in grout.

The floor is going to be made of wood.
and its going to be suspended by small wooden pillars.
so ill have all the space beneath the second floor.
and have a 10x12 inch area added to the tank.
i was thinking of carving out the bottom of the foam. and making a rock structure.
but im not to tool savy. and i wouldnt have the patience for it. lol.
but im going to be posting a picture of how it looks finished tommorow.
