seal the slate?

I recently got some new slate, and when I had my friends husband who is a tile layer cut the slate, he gave me some stuff and told me it would keep Pablos poop from staining the slate and make it easier to clean. My question is, is this safe? He said it would be fine if he ate off it or something once it was dry, my only worry is the vapors it might give off once its under the heat from Pablos basking light. Thoughts on this?

When in doubt! Throw it out! whats a little stain on some slate, you can always wash it clean, and have no worries about the goop u want to use.don't take the chance.

I had the same problem when deciding whether or not to seal the grout in Bruce's new viv. The fumes that the bottle of sealer gave off smelled TERRIBLE so I decided against it. Hope this helps aid in your decision.
