Hey guys,

I'm going to get a bearded dragon soon, so I am setting everything up, making sure the enclosure's good. I've been seeing the statement 'lid will block 50% of UVB light' a lot, but haven't really seen any data on it. Did anyone measure the difference in the power with a UV meter? If so, can you guys point me to the reference please?

Hello :). I don't know of any info saying that but if you think of it the screen will block some of the rays. The will be blocked by the screen. The best place for the UVB is inside the tank so the beardie can get the most of the uvb

Yes, someone did test it, and posted their findings here. While there's variation in the design of screens, the tests showed that there is a significant reduction in UVB even at optimal distance. What's in doubt is how much UVB is enough. If you're using an MVB, enough is probably getting through.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
