Scratching at carpet?

So some times at night, before bed or when I turn his lights off. ONLY While he is in his cave. He will scratch at the carpet / paper towels for a few minutes. I know for a fact that he, is a he. Any idea why he would be doing this? I've heard him do it maybe... 3 times. Not nights in a row either.. Just randomly.

Just natural digging behavior. In the wild, they would dig in a bit to make a little burrow for protection.

Each of my dragons has a fuzzy blankie for sleeping in.

However, I've heard of folks using small strips/squares of felt or soft cloth to make a
"safe dig box" type setup.

I know some folks put alfalfa pellets in for a real dig box, which is mostly safe but has to be
kept very clean and changed often or it goes moldy. I'd think it wouldn't be the most
comfortable thing to sleep on either.
