Little assassins , they are vicious when they want to be. :angry5: and I've had the pleasure of living with a cockatoo who was far more gentle!

One thing to keep in mind when handling your BD, is how you pick it up. Approach it slowly with the back of your hand, giving it nothing to latch onto. When you do pick it up, slide your hand under it's Belly, give full support to it's Belly & Tail, you will find they do not like being picked up by gripping it's sides.

For those that think BDs don't bite hard, here is a pic of an adult BD bite ...

No, that is not my thumb. But it resulted from the handler holding his BD & it jumped out of his hands, trying to catch it, the handler missed it's body but caught it by the tail, the dragon whipped around & tagged him. Definitely handler error, but shows the possible severity of a BD bite.

That's nothing, just a nip. But they can bite hard for such a small creature. :) I'm not scared being bitten by a dragon, I'm much more vary with my tarantulas, they can mess you up good with those one inch fangs, even if they don't "envenomate" (spelling?) you.
The more you're nervous, more chances are you're going to get bit. It's simple as that.
Just take it slowly, baby steps. S/he will get use to you, just don't give up on him/her.
Good luck! :)

A good thing to always keep in mind with our beardies, there could be things going on that we can not see, so we should always not necessarily take it personally. He/she might just not be feeling well.

Yeah she was sweet as can be when I first got her and then she became grumpy, its good to know she is not sick though. :blob8:

I know they say you should give them a bath when they are sheding but since she has never been out of her cage and isnt tame yet that doesnt really seem like an option at this point. :( Is there anything else I can do for her to make her feel better? :?:

You can introduce a shallow pool, perhaps a tuperware lid. That way, she/he will get the bath it needs and help speed up the shedding process. It shouldn't raise the humidity hardly at all. Hope ? ... What was it's name? Feels better

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
