Hi,
We have our 2.5 year old male beardie who is having a scale issue. I have a vet apt Monday (earliest I could find). It started when he shed and this area didn't come off with the rest. We have been doing warm baths and Neosporin. Is it scale rot or something else?

Hi there, some kind of trauma for sure, possibly a burn ? Please post pics of the entire enclosure including lights as you have it set up right now. How many watts is your basking or any heat bulb ?

That's the problem right there,, the bulb is just inches above the rock cave. Even a few minutes would cause the burn so you'll need to put the bulb outside of the enclosure . For the burn you can put raw unpasteurized honey on or silver sulfadiazene cream from the drug store. Be sure there are no loose insects in the cage. It should heal but there will always be some scarring.

Oh most definitely a burn. That bulb is way too close to an area he can access. He can easily touch that bulb. It really should be mounted outside of the enclosure as you don't want there to be a possibility of him touching it.

I would switch to using raw unpasteurized honey on it. It will keep it clean and starve off infection like the neosporin, but raw unpasteurized honey also has wound healing capabilities.

EDIT: AHBD is quicker than me.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
