I have a beardie named sora. She is 1 year old. I have her housed in a 50 gallon tank. The hot side of her tank is 100. And the cool side is 80. She has a reptile carpet in the bottom of her cage. She is fed Fluckers buffet blend.
Her problem is on her belly, I have noticed a brown spot. It has gotten bigger over the past 2 weeks. Its like the scales are missing. It has a different feel. She hasn't shedded her body recently. But its nothing like shedding. I'm really worried. And really need help.

If you could post a picture it would help in helping you. You can make a free account on photobucket, upload the picture there, then copy the IMG url once you open your uploaded picture, then paste it here. Its hard to say without a picture of what is going on.

hm, could it be abrasion? the scales have been rubbed off by something? you don't have a heat rock or anything like that she could be laying on? what stuff do you have in the enclosure besides the carpet?

Have you tried giving her a good soak and use a baby soft toothbrush on her to see if it can be removed gently. I am not sure what that is but kind of looks like retained shed. If its spreading it could be fungal in nature and she would need to be seen by a vet, which is probably in order for it anyway. Maybe someone else will chime in and offer more than I can but I would definitely watch it or seek the help of a vet that specializes in reptiles. In the meantime you can keep giving her warm soaks, even with a little betadine in it so the water looks like weak tea and start Lamisil or monistat on it in case it is fungal.

So basically nothing untoward there…
well, I like Tonja's recommendation as far as the soaks go… before all this, has Sora been getting regular soaks?

No, sora is like a cat she hates bathes. I gave her a bath a week ago though. She soaked for 10 minutes. It didn't help.
With her scales in the area I am worried about, it is hard. and its not.sensitive.

Go to your messages and PM Drache613 and explain to her what is going on and send the picture in the pm. Tracie is wonderful with beardies and is quite knowledgeable in beardie problems and health issues. She may be able to offer more insight than I can.

That looks like a type of scale rot, so I would recommend a vet visit right away. Do you have a reptile specialist vet near you?

I thought it was scale rot but didn't know. No, I don't have a vet that specializes in reptiles. I heard to keep her cage clean. and keep her cage really dry. I've also heard to put Neosporin on the area to help. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place.

First, take some iodine/betadine and clean the area really well. Keep the animal out and give the enclosure a good solid clean too before you put it back in. Make sure to put in a new piece of whatever substrate you are using too. Not just cleaned, but an actual new piece. You should always have at least two anyway so that when you clean one it has a chance to dry before you put it back in. What area do you live in? We might be able to recommend a good vet in your area.

Bump up your basking area temperature a little more, say to around 110 F. Make sure the cool side doesnt get any warmer though. Speaking of lights, what are you using for a UV light? How far away from the lizard is it? Is it sitting on the screen or mounted inside the enclosure?

Also, is that Flukers stuff the only thing you are feeding it?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
