Say hello to my little friend....SUPER CUTE PIC!!

We have come a long way since bringing Yoshi home in August. He now eats his veggies like a champ, loves all live feeders, and has become the best snuggler ever!! My mother in law caught him in this pic and I just had to share, since I know you all love beardie pics so much! You can tell by his color that he is happy and healthy, no stress marks(took months to go away) and he will explore now without black bearding me. It has been awhile since he's black bearded at all, so relieved!

For those that don't know about my lil guy, he was malnourished and kept in a 20 gallon tank until we brought him home, lived an entire year without any veggies or live feeders. I still want to find the woman that had him and lock her in a closet and feed her pellets!!!

My husband built him a 4 foot viv that he has been in for about a month now, he is one spoiled beardie! He has shed twice which makes me happy because it lets me know he is putting on weight, I have tried to weigh him on digital scales but keeping him still to get an accurate reading is nearly impossible he's somewhere between 50-60 grams. All I know about his age is that he turned 1 in the spring. I have been fortunate to find a small locally owned pet store right down the road and the owner has been very helpful during this whole process and when Yoshi turns two I plan to get another beardie from her, all her beardies are so happy and healthy (I play with the babies every time I go purchase crickets) thanks to her and this site, I have been able to take a mistreated, angry, stressed out dragon and turn him into a loving, brightly colored, HEALTHY, happy pet!!!

This would have never happened a month ago!!

Very pretty beardie! Love his coloring, almost reminds me of my Beaux's colors. She has done that to me several times, like when I am playing my Playstation, she sometimes would go on my back, put her head on my neck and fall asleep, lol. But I am really happy to see that everything is okay and going great with him. I don't see how people can do that to these sweet loving animals.

Thank you! It has taken a lot of work to get him as healthy as he is now, it took an entire month before we got to see his colors. He was dark and stressed for so long. I've never owned a reptile in my life, but after researching and reading everything I could get my hands on I am super proud of myself for rehabilitating this poor guy! My friends think I'm nuts giving him multi vitamins and baths and say I'm obsessed! I am both nuts and obsessed!! When he's done shedding I'm going to have a lil photo shoot with him and post more pics!!

thats amazing what you did .... i cant comprehend a beardie being treated that way, even though i know it happens all the time, people either just dont know what they require and all they emcompass OR they just honestly dont care.
Its sad either way.
but i love hearing stories like this one!!! Yoshi is crazy bright, that colouring is stunning, and he is VERY handsome! simply beautiful. congratulations on all your hard work with Yoshi. it has paid off
you saved him, and i always say, i think they save us too. ya know?
amazing creatures, they are our family members for sure.
and YES, i dont think about it but when im talking to someone about my beardie Blue, i will start talking about baths and her blanket, or how well her poop is looking, and other odd details ... then i realize the person is looking at me funny like, ummmmmm baths and her blanket?? you LIKE looking at poop?
then im like ... :shock: :shock:
lol .... we are used to it, makes sense to us. to non beardie slaves i know we must sound super crazy, ha!

Thanks Em!! He is my first reptile ever and I loooooove him so!! I just found another that needs a loving home and am upset about it because I can't afford the ridiculous price they are asking for it and I don't think I have the means for two dragons right now. I posted about the poor thing in beardie rescue...so sad...

Aww Yoshi looks so happy! That's awesome you've been able to do all of that for him. As upsetting as it is for you that you can't help right now it's the best decision. If you took in another rescued dragon and couldn't afford to give it the necessary care it would only be more pain and neglect for the beardie to go through. You did the right thing by posting it in beardie rescue. In the future when I've had more time under my belt with beardies, I plan on taking in some rescues. Did you ever do the photoshoot with Yoshi?

Thank you, I think that I should not go look anymore. I can already tell that I'm not going to sleep well tonight, I can't get the image of that poor beardie out of my head. It is for the best, I have enough mouths to feed as it is and Yoshi is still so much a project, there is no way I could provide for two with "issues". So I did what I could, I hope somebody rescues it soon if he brumates with food in his belly so sad!

Our poor camera finally gave out on us so I have my fingers crossed for a new one for Christmas....I need to post some new pics of mr. man...he is really filling out. Super spoiled beardie! He's finally gotten tame enough that I can let him wonder around the house and the kids love it and we have gotten in a routine with him...though I think he's going through his own kind of brumation, he still eats and basks he just puts himself to bed a good bit earlier than usual...I'll try and get another pic up this weekend, he's the brightest when he's riding on my shoulder...makes me feel super good!!

Wow look at those colors! He's a pretty boy! Thanks or sharing this story makes, it me happy to hear good out comes to these tragic starts in life!
Beardies are so easy to become attached to. It always baffles me that people just leave them in their cages all day and don't interact with them. I love to take ours on outings just like you in this pic and I enjoy it probably more than our dragon does. Just blows me away that people don't interact with their dragons.

Thanks guys! He bit the girl in the pet store when I bought him, twice!! He's come a long way, he doesn't black beard us at all anymore...he's too busy trying to look cute so we'll get him out. He was my son's birthday present, but....well....he got kinda hi jacked! I can't understand how people don't interact with them either, he gets more attention than any of our other pets....he's just so cute!
