hello, and welcome to this site. i was reading the posts in this thread and im confused on the number of lights you have? is it this one by chance?
you said round with a red one in the middle so i was thinking of this.
i was just going to mention that he should have a cool side of the tank. if the whole tank is the same temperature that might be dangerous. you still have a 20 gallon tank, right? does the heat light shine over the whole tank?
i saw that he was in a tub outdoors in that pic on page 2. that is great
, i've heard one hour of sunlight is worth a couple hours under a fluorescent UV light. my only question is, does he have any place in that tub to retreat from the sun? beardies usualy open their mouths like that when their hot or defensive.
greens are not expensive. whoever told you that was being frugel. in fact, if you go to a big chain store like ralphs, vons, albertsons, and ask nicely they will give you free scraps of greens that were ripped in some way. i go to ralphs every other day and get my little one mustard greens, collard greens, dandilion greens, bok choy and sometimes a little bit of red leaf... all for free. lettuce has alot of water and can cause diareah i've heard, iceburg is the absolute worst.
just make sure to stay away from the danger foods. foods can be dangerous for a variety of reasons. some keep your dragon from absorbing calcium like rhubarb or beets. others can have an unhealthy amount of phosphorus or fat like avocado or pinky mice.
is this the site your referring to?
http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html
if so, i'd stick to it what it says. its trusted by some pretty experienced people and thats good enough for me!
i don't know if someone already mentioned it but meal worms arent so great for a staple. they have little nutritional value and may even lead to impaction. try to find a pet store near you who sells crickets. buy a "kritter keeper"(little $4.99 plastic cage with a lid/handle) and a few dozen crickets. this will last you a couple days at a time. if your really serious about cheap feeders you could get a plastic storage bin and breed your own crickets/roaches...
*EDIT* i see someone addressed this subject while i was typing. good call  .
anyhow, i hope you get things squared away. i hope to see more pictures. is there one of his tank?
again, welcome to this website. i hope you find it informative... i know i did, and still do  .
