Samples.

Does anyone know where I can get a few samples of dubia's? I am thinking of changing from crickets to the roaches, but they are more expensive and I dont want to waste my money if my beardies wont eat them. I have an adult female, which is on the small side, and a baby which is about 5 or 6 weeks. I just want a few to see if they will eat them etc. also how many do you feed them and how often. The crickets I will let her eat about 10 to 20 a day, as well as her greens. The baby eats about 4 to 6 smalls, and also some mini meal worms. I have checked on craigslist, and the local pet shops etc. no one sells them here in the fingerlakes, ny LOL

I just switched over to Dubia recently. ALL of my beardies went wild for them the first time they were introduced. Now I have some snobs that wont eat any other kind of bug! lol.

They do not need as many dubia as they would a cricket. They have more meat on them. Probably 1 dubia is = to 4-5 crickets or so? ... I only let me adults eat 4-5 adult size dubia. They are pretty big.

I've ordered small quantities from Greg's Exotic Inverts. And you can also get smaller quantities on the For Sale board. I'm sure your beardies would like them, but if not, you could always donate to a rescue in your area? (That's what I did with my first batch of dubia. They grossed me out. LOL!!!!! Not anymore! )

Well my wife basically just outlawed them in the house LOL. so I cannot get samples. I am thinking of breeding supers though for our adult. The baby we will have to still stick with small crix, but supers will supplement the big girl...

Your wife might not know they are roaches, just saying. Feeder roaches, esp the nymphs, in some species look different from the common native roaches. You might just want to call it a feeder or a bug as opposed to a roach.

I wish my wife was that blonde LOL. But she knows I opened my mouth and told her and asked her about them. So now she is on the "lookout" lol. I am thinking of trying supers to breed and see how it works. I have been doing quite a bit of research. Now to see if it pays off LOL. I am trying to morph about 20 now. I am buying another 1000 saturday. I am getting a good deal on them. 22.00 a thousand boxed. And if I order 5000 then they are 18.00 a thousand boxed and is local for me kinda. Have to drive about an hour but its worth it LOL.
