he will be six months old at the start of march. he's about 14" long head-tail. He's been eating supers since he was around 12.5" long. I've had him since he was around 6 weeks old. This is my first beardie
I am actually thinking of getting a second one so he has a friend to chill with all the time.
I use a MVB. Started him off in a 10 gal tank. Moved him to a 55-gal when he was around 3 months. Now, I am planning on building him a much larger vivarium.
When I am home I set up his light on the ground and let him run around freely in my room. Lets him get a ton of exercise hehe

Oh yeah, his basking spot is about 110F measured on the surface with a digital probe. Sound about right?

What a cutiepie you have there!

Do you have a uvb sorce yet? They need that aswell as a basking spot. 105f to 110f is fine no higher tho. Cool end should be 80f to 85f.

You mentioned getting Salvatore a friend and you may already know this, but just in case... beardies shouldn't be housed together. They can be very territorial leading to dominance issues, in which one of them may not thrive properly or even worse get hurt. Just thought I would mention it.

Yeah as I was doing more research it seems beardie's are better off on their own :study:

I'm using a Mercury Vapor UVB Bulb which is uvb + heat in one I believe?

I'm going to start introducing more greens in his diet I think to go along with those bites since he should be more interested in them now.

He just spent his first night out of his tank on thursday. He fell asleep on the base of my monitor while he was running around on my desk. Didn't want to disturb him so I left him there all night.

BTW, guys. With a mercury vapor uvb, should I be using calcium with D3 or without?

As for using calcium with or without D3, you do not need the D3 with a mercury vapor bulb.

What a sweety.
Dex used to love the monitor. Nice and toasty warm!

Be sure if you leave him outside his viv at night you shut the door of the room. We've had so many members lose their dragons for days and even months by taking their eyes off them.
Its also a great idea to tie a long ribbon onto his tail if he's being left out a while. No matter what tight gap he squeezes himself into you'll be able to see his trail!

Yeah, I keep the door closed when I let him out of his tank. Don't want him falling off the stairs!!
