Safe to use sand now?

I was wondering if you guys think it's safe to use sand for my beardy now. I've had him on paper towels since I got him. I do no feed him inside the viv; I feed him in a separate container. He is almost 4 months old and is about 10 inches long. Let me know what you think.

Also, I have him in a 40 gallon viv right now. When he is full grown do you think I'm going to have to upgrade or do you think that would be okay?

At four months he isnt old enough for sand no.
Dragons need to be adults to live reasonably safely on sand, I believe adulthood occures at is 12-15months.

I can never remember if the adult recommendation is 40 gals or 70.
Is your viv a 40 gal breeder or is it longer than it is wide?

I don't use sand until they are around a year and a half old. And I only use sifted play sand and play sand/dirt mix. None of that Calci-sand crap.

A 40 gallon is the minimum you should keep a beardie in. I would recommend upgrading to a 4x2x2 when he gets bigger.

It's 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 15 inches high
