Safe Live Plants?

I was wondering if there was a list of safe, live plants somewhere. My beardie is very curious (as most are) and will lick/bite anything new in his enclosure to see what it is and if it is edible. I'm going to be live-planting his tank, so my question is are there any lists of which plants are best to put in a beardie's enclosure? And if anyone has any advice on which ones hold up best against bearded dragon curiosity and being occasionally sat upon? :blob8: :blob5: :blob5: :blob8:

You might have luck with succulents (not sure what are edible) but most attempts I've read about ended in trampled plants. Most others I imagine would not hold up to the hot dry temps in the cage.

The beautiful dragons site, as well as tortoise and iguana sites would have lists for you.

I looked through the beautiful dragons site and I couldn't find any information on plants. Is any plant that is safe for an iguana or tortoise going to be safe for him? Thanks! :blob5: :blob8: :blob8: :blob5:

almost any plant will be okay in the tank. Christmas cactus (not sharp) is safe, haworthia zebra succulents, most herbs, DANDELIONS are fantastic, ugly but great for your pet to eat. mine has plants in his tank and they're not having a hard time.

I would love to see your enclosure! Not doubting you, just that I have tried numerous plants and with the exception of just a select few, have had a hard time keeping them alive for longer than a few months. I just planted some new ones, and they seem ok, with the exception of the hen and chicks which got eaten/trampled/destroyed already.

Neat live plant setups. I have a pot of assorted safe succulents myself, but have to take it out when my adult goes on an rampage, usually around spring. Guess it depends on the activity level and behavior of your individual reptile when considering what to put in the viv.

Jarich - is that bio active substrate, if so how deep is it? Really like the add-on top cage, and the Sunray looks good, but how in the world are you hanging the other light?

Thank you, and yes, it is bioactive soil. Its anywhere from 6" to around 10" depending on where in the enclosure it is. As for the light, do you mean the dome one or the T5? Actually both are pretty much hung the same way anyway, just with hooks screwed into the top, which is plywood.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
