Rusty Reds

Any one here like to feed these and are there any advantages to them. I like my dubia but reds are cheaper for feeding while my dubia produce. Plus 1 large roach is like 4 large crix. And reds are as much a crix but you get more bug for your buck :)

Thanks

If I remember right, reds are fast, but I do believe they are a species that can easily become a pest in your home, believe they climb as well?

If you'd like something faster and easier, I'd suggest the lobster roach as more seem to choose that one over the reds.

Reds don't climb but lobsters sure as hell do. They are pretty quick but my beardies enjoy the chase, if they are to fast you can toss them in the fridge for a minute or two to slow them down.

Ya it thought is was reds that didnt climb but were fast a heck. And lobsters could climb? It would just be for food for my subs and adults which love roaches so i need something while my dubia breed. Reds cost as much as crix but im not a fan of they're speed or more nasty roach look :( compared to dubia which are little cuties.

Thanks for the thoughts

My dragons have loved reds, but they can be tricky to keep from escaping. To slow them down you can refrigerate them for a few minutes in a container. The cooler temps make them easier to catch, and less likely to escape in the transfer.

I read how many people have success feeding there dragons rusty reds. My dragons won't touch them no matter what I do. So they get B. dubia and my Ts and scorpions get the rusty reds. I wish my dragons did eat the reds since I have thousands of them.

I feed Reds. My beardie loves them and they breed super fast. I have only had a few escapees and that was due to me not being careful when I dipped into my breeder bin for feeders. Supposedly if you live in a cold climate (Ohio) they can't become a pest. I have had them for almost a year now and (Knock on wood) no problems with infestation (we have an infestation of those brown lady bugs though...wish I could feed those ugly things). The males are said to be able to flutter a bit of a distance but I have yet to see that happen. So far my experience with these bugs has been uneventful (knock on wood again).

After posting my previous post, my little 6" dragon started eating them when I offered them. I was stoked on that. My adults attempt to, but I think they are to fast. But at least my baby eats them now. I have thousands of several kids of roaches so feeding something is never an issue. I live down in the SW where the reds have started to infest some of the inner city areas where it is more humid. Out where I live in the desert, they haven't infested the house in the 3 or 4 years now that we have seen them around here. They venture into the house in the Summer and usually head for my room, but we have never had an infestation in the house itself. End of Summer, they disappear until spring. Remind me of crickets, only see hem in the house in Summer. If they ever get well acclimated out here I could see them becoming a possible issue. Thought I would share the update.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
