Runs away when basking outside?

The pet store owner I bought my beardie from said to allow him to bask in the run daily for at least 10 minutes so we've been trying to do this but if we turn out heads, he runs off a bit. Is he just investigating or like trying to seriously run? He's 7 weeks old.

Yep, you need some way to contain him so he can't escape. Some people have used rubbermaid tubs for babies, works really well but never leave him alone and make sure he doesn't over heat.
If you have a UVB tube, then technically he doesn't need outside sun. If you don't use a UVB tube then he needs minimum of 30 minutes a day outside.

Yeah I just talked to my friend who is a very good beardie owner and very knowledgeable; he told me to put him in a tupperware container or something he cannot get out of when basking.

He said it more than likely was not "I wanna run away from my owner" behavior but "Yeah this tree loooks awesome..cool new tank" behavior. LOL. Either way I don't wanna chance it.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
