Hi, my beardie keeps running back and forth along his cage and ramming his face into the side of the tank.. he has stopped doing it so much lately but now he's starting to shed and it looks like his bottom jaw is really bruised.. what does this mean and what should i do?

hey there
umm not sure what exactly it means...but what i did was this:
i put up like fishtank border stuff on the back and two sides of my viv with double sided tape...*taped on the outside of the cage* it makes them feel safer, and it also shields them from whatever is going on outside of the cage. if he/she sees movement he will go towards it...being GLASS...lol and see through...he wont know its there. so i bet if you put a rough rock in the cage *for the aid of shedding* and put up something on 3 of the 4 sides he/she will settle down a lot and wont run into the glass. mine did it for a while before i put up the background...now he doesnt ever do it :)
hope i helped :)

hi, thanks.. but I already have stuff covering the 3 sides of the viv.. its like the fish stuff you were talking about. he doesn't do it as often since we put it up on the sides (it was always on the back) but he still does a lot on the front. I'm worried about the bruising on his lower jaw for the most part.. any idea what I should do about that? again, thanks

hmmm...no ive never had the problem continue after i put up the sides :(
maybe he/she is just a little ditsy lol i know a lot of ppl that continuously run into sliding glass doors ;)
you can try to call a vet that SPECIALIZES in reptiles *a lot of ppl ive told that to dont think to ask if they do reptiles so yeah lol*
and it shouldnt cost anything just to ask the vet a few questions and trouble shoot over the phone.
if you dont get any answers let me know and ill ask my friend...he breeds beardies so im sure he has had at least one do that lol
hope it gets better :)

mine does this too - i'm kind of worried. he will not eat in his feeding tank either when i put him in. he rubs on the edging. he does it in his living tank too. :?

They want to come out of their cage and run around most likely!!

If I let my guy out of his cage and put him back in before he's done. He will run back and forth against the glass and make a giant mess in his cage until I stick my hand in. He then is VERY willing to be picked up and come out of the cage.

A window can be super entertaining for a beardie. My guy sits at the window for over an hour at a time some days.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
