Running errands with beardie?

i hear a lot of people on here saying that they take their beardie along with them to petstores and such... is it just as easy as gettin a small plastic container for ride? or are there more details that are left between the lines that i dont know about it... in simple terms "what all is involved when taking a beardie for an hour round trip ride?"

When Beaux needs crickets or something from Petsmart or another pet store, I always take her with me to get some natural sun and get her out of her cage and out my apartment. All I do is let her sit on my shoulder, where she most of the time stays and doesn't move, with my sunroof visor open to get some sun. She loves that. Now are you having to leave the car on your errand run? Or do you do everything from in the car?

You never know how a beardie might react to a new place, new sights, new smells, new sounds. I would try to buy or make a leash/harness for her. If you search around this site, you'll find people that can show you how to make them or people selling them. That way you know he's secure and can't make a break for it and possibly hurt himself.

I take Henry everywhere I started when he was around three weeks old.He still rides next to my window. He is really good at home depot or petco. If I need to hide him I have a little lanket in my purse and I wrap him up like a burrito. I have started taking my 2 year old rosie I got two weeks agoshe is a bit more frisky. She sits on the back of my seat but looks kind of nervous because she is older and has never done it before. She is better in stores if you wrap her in a blanket and put it in my open purse or she likes my shoulder and back. I will start bringing my little beardie I just got as soon as he is eating ok I don't want to add any stress because he is so tiny.

The Hubby and I decided to take Tiki with us to the Petstore, supermarket and to my parent's house. Her first time, as well as ours.

She did AMAZING. Got her a little leash (since she's quick like an Olympic sprinter) at Pet Supermarket - she went to the supermarket with us (well... Hubby waited with her on his shoulder while I went inside - was worried about A/C).

I didn't want her afraid, so we just kept her on my Hubby's shoulder as I drove. She LOVES a car ride - couldn't get enough of the fresh air (I kept the AC off). Just have a box around should your baby get scared.

And then onto the patio at the parents for real sun!

my biggest male Xavier LOVES car rides...my smaller male isnt interested in them and doesnt seem to care.

But we got one of those rubber phone mats that you can put on your dashboard and we set Xavier on it so he doesnt slide around. he goes to home depot with me, pet stores, sometimes on sundays i take him to work. i work for a storage company, and if i am off work during one of our auctions (yes its just like the show storage wars) i take him with me and he loves it! we spend the entire day out in the sun. he always rides on my shoulder, and very rarley will i put him down since i dont put a leash on him. he has never tried to dash away thankfully.

i cant wait till my juvy leather back dexter is calmed down enough to take on car rides, and my baby silkback will be interesting to take out when shes an adult. lol

I take mine out to they have a carrier that I take them out to the car and always on a harness I leave the carrier door open and usually my male likes to ride on my shoulder when I am driving.
He goes with me to the mall petstore and things like that. When he feels unsafe or cold he usually likes to climb into my coat and sleep but he loves all the attention people give him.

I also take my female out as well she loves being around people and everything, she is really mellow.

Baby will go out when she is abit older she is my 4 month old leather back

I took Arwyn to the petstore with me and she freaked out on the way there. I had to pull over and put her in a box that I had. She stayed in a bad mood until later that night when it was snuggle time and then she calmed down and had happy colors.

What a great idea! I take my cat everywhere. He has a carseat and everything. If I'm doing a quick errand, Ody stays at home so maybe that'll be a good time to take Athena out. She's still a baby, about 3 months old, but loves to be out of her cage. Although I think she's absolutely adorable, I'm looking forward to what I can do with her when she's fully grown

We took our 8 month old beardies out to the Fourth of July neighborhood festivities. He loved all the attention, and she decided she didn't like the attention. We had them on their leashes, but had a wagon with a wire mesh cage so they had a refuge. They were to hit of the day. Kids wanted to to pose for pics with them. Have not done around town yet. Just might soon before the weather gets too cool again.

I am starting to take Booger with me. He has a pet carrier I take him in. He doesn't stress to much, but I did take him out at the pet store, he was ok for a few minutes then he got scared, put him back in his house and he hid in his bed under his binkie, I will be taking him ot more, not big enough for a leash yet but close.
